SIL is a master carpenter. Works for himself and has two younger guys working for him that he is training. He has to turn down a lot of work. He is that good and he will make sure the job is done right the first time around. Big reason he turns work down.
Oh, he can name his price, but he keeps them down more so for old folks.

I worked in a production finish carpentry shop, and there were a decent number of girls there. Out of maybe 30 carpenters each day, five or so would be girls

A brick layer in Denver makes about 150-200k a year. That’s the dude on the scaffold slinging bricks.
There is a huge labor shortage in construction. The recession of 09 took a lot of the old timers and others found different work. Today’s younger generation isn’t going to do manual labor.

I'd rather do manual labor than sit in an office all day. Wouldn't ever take an office job, no matter how much money they paid me. It just drives me insane.
