I loved my time in Ruston & wouldn't trade anything in the world for it. Louisiana Tech is a GREAT University with so much going for it. That being said, Ruston is a VERY RICH town that just needs a few more older people to die out( if you know what I mean) so they can get voters to keep passing common sense alcohol laws.

Progress in Lincoln Parish is slow when it comes to the alcohol issue but it has come so far in the last 20 years. I fully expect it to only get better in that respect. The Gestapo police are a huge issue there also.

Hey, hey. Nothing new here. HBTD! Ready to enjoy a good 2018 football team between my Dawgs and Tigers, too!

I've been to Ruston a few times and I'm always jealous of the dorms/apartments right behind the outfield wall at their baseball stadium.

If La Tech got really good at baseball that would be an awesome OF scene with drunk kids hanging out of their windows and porches yelling at the OFers

I was living in Neilson during Katrina and they housed the NOLA refugees in Caruthers. Condemned the place shortly thereafter and tore it down. Old arsed building anyways.

This is impossible. I read somewhere on this site that ULL was by far the second best public university in the state only behind LSU...

we had a couch out there to watch games...it was awesome

I'd move to Ruston and raise a family there if I had other family closer. Too bad they moved away.

Does this mean we can petition the State to shut down the Tier 2, and lower, public Universities? LSU and Tech should really be the only two universities our tax dollars go to.

Nichols can probably stay, it fills a void in a large population basin.

But the rest (ULL, ULM, the black schools) have got to go.

Used to love pulling up trucks behind left field and getting hammered during a game.

Something doesn't add up as Tech is #235 in all colleges, where LSU is #262.

NVM found it. You are citing just the in-state rating. Tech is rated higher for out of state and in the aggregate.

Hmmm...Kiplinger defaulted to the in-state ranking when I pulled up the list. Should have fact checked a little better on my end.

Was in one of the tv rooms when that guy jumped off the roof of Nelson one night in '85. He was in my QA class

Nielson.

RA came by our 2nd floor room that night and just said to not look out the window.

Of course, we eased those crank blinds open to see what was going on. Saw a bunch of cop lights. Then saw a sheet spread out right below us.

A coroner car pulled in, dude got out, lifted the sheet, and picked up the vic's arm. Was like jelly. Yep, he's dead.

They said he went and watched Monday Night Football with some guys, acted normal, then came home and took a dive.
