Sounds like FedEx is bad, UPS or USPS is better. I've used USPS for a lot of things despite the workers that I see when I go there. It's been more convenient thru the years.

Yes but you are making me check all my life's decisions right now. LOL I'm paying back a guy who has over-nighted fresh seafood several times and I'm feeling like it's time to send him some goodies. I wish I would have done this during crawfish season.

We had them shipped from Ambrosia when we lived in MO. Icing and colored sugar were not on the cake when it arrived. They only shipped a couple days a week, and we never had any issues. .

This is patently moronic advice. You need to search (beyond the week default parameter) for the threads that happen EVERY year about the utter competence about USPS.
There is a difference between the Fedex services, and who delivers them (Ground, Express, etc.) but USPS is consistently the shittiest all over the country, for anything but metered and junk mail.

I ship a Super Kingcake from Manny Randazzo's every year from Metairie to Boston via UPS ground. The kingcake with the box is under $45. Shipping is @ $20, maybe less.
I ship it on a Monday and the family has it before the weekend, as early as Thursday to Saturday delivery. Just make sure when you ship they're not having snow in your delivery area.
I do not have them ship it. I have a UPS account and get a small discount self shipping.
Edited to add: I ship UPS ground. If the kingcake is not a dry kingcake, it will stay fresh during transit. Manny's is moist and delicious.

It's become a family joke at this point. Since my bday is in season, they would send me a McKenzie's style cake and it would be obliterated when it landed at my door. The next year they tried all kinds of ways to keep it in tact, but USPS Priority mail or not, the good ole PO destroyed that one too. As much as it makes me laugh and I do like the McKenzie's style, I need them to send one from the vendors itt.
