want to ship a King Cake to someone in New Jersey. Any recommendations on what place to ship from? I know there are a lot of different personal preferences when it comes to these. Who does this the best? Thanks for the help.
Find the best one you want to bring and book a king cake on a day you can fly out yourself to Jersey round trip. Bring only the King Cake with you as luggage, not sure if you can get a king cake small enough for a personal item or carryon to avoid the extra baggage of flying.
The reason I say to fly yourself is because most places will freeze the king cake and sometimes will not even garnish it with icing or put the colored sugar to avoid a mess from the heat in transit. Most places also only ship out on a Monday or Tuesday to ensure a delivery before a weekend otherwise your king cake is stuck on a truck or in a warehouse for a few days more. Also some shipping rates have gone nuts, so getting it there yourself might run you several dollars more, but you get the joy of visiting them and delivering the king cake in person.

Marguerites in Slidell is a favorite of mine and I ship her cakes. At least during MG season, it’s about $50/$60 for the cake and shipping, best price around. Don’t know about off season. To me, her king cases are far better than the standard “popular” places.

I have absolutely flown with one from New Orleans to San Diego.

This is patently moronic advice. You need to search (beyond the week default parameter) for the threads that happen EVERY year about the utter competence about USPS.
There’s threads about the incompetence of every carrier all over the internet. Welcome to the world of package delivery in 2026. I have a real life example. You pulled up to a cake shipping thread like it was the Burbank sonic.
