Small dog- King Charles Cavalier

Larger dog- Golden Retriever

Both have shorter life spans. We have our second Golden. He is a legend.

We went from 5 lb shih tzu to 70 lb standard poodle.... suppose a miniature poodle would be same temperament but they are smart as hell

You can put a tortoise in the fridge months at a time, way less messy than a turtle.

The best inside dog I’ve ever owned is a cavapoo. It sounds like what your family is looking for.

Our Morkie is a cool little guy. SUPER smart, doesn’t shed, hypoallergenic, and is fun. I always had/liked labs but this little guy thinks he is Great Dane big.

Also had a miniature wiener dog and she was pretty solid too...loved to swim.

We love our 2 beagles to death. But damn all that hair everywhere sucks.

Yeah that’s why wife wouldn’t let me get a lab, she wanted a large dog to grow up with kids that doesn’t shed so we settled on standard poodle

I like those Carolina dogs too. My latest fascination is the smooth collie though
