Kids want a new dog

We had to put our shitzu down last year and the kids and wife want a new dog. We don't want another shitzu, but we do want a similar kind of dog. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Just remember, if you adopt a dog some poor dog in a puppy mill will have to be put down.

Shih Tzus are great dogs. You won’t find a much easier and adaptable dog.
That said, house pets are a big no for me. My kids are a slight step above feral dogs themselves, I don’t need another of that sort.

Our other one was 17 years old, and the wife doesn't want to feel like she is "replacing" our old dog. I know...I know.

Get a king charles cavalier. Mine is the best dog I've ever had. Just loves people and loves attention but it so calm and chill. Will play if we want to play, will lay down in bed all day if thats what you want to do. And also a good looking dog that only weighs about 25 lbs. No downside to him.

Great Danes are excellent house dogs. They sleep 90% of the time, and save on those pesky alarm monitoring fees.
