Kenner police said they arrested 75 people for trespassing at the mall...

Most aren’t going to go into the Esplanade Mall so we need someone to take that risk… my thing is, if he got in and out, and this is based on a video, idk if they could prove it was him filming or when he got in there
Full disclosure, I went into the Lindy Boggs hospital one night, and me and friends once went to the abandoned Naval Base but didn’t go in

I didn’t realize it was shut down. I always went there in the 90s. It’s fascinating how well Lakeside Mall continues to thrive.

Partially shut down. I think the actual mall portion is shut down but target and dillards are open. Maybe a couple other things

The "Dirty Dillard's", like my wife calls it, is still open... Dillard's and Target are the only two stores
Hard to believe that place closed, it was awesome back in the 90's... Only local mall that had a Structure.
Picked up many women back in the 90's wearing clothes from Structure...

The neighborhoods around it had been going downhill, and when Katrina hit they all liberated merchandise from the mall.

I get it, but I'm not so sure we should be charging these kids with felonies and potentially ruining the rest of their lives over something we probably all did as kids, but we just didn't video it.

No.. The neighborhoods around it with the exception of Lincoln Manor are just fine. The problem after Katrina is that there was a huge influx of "people" from the New Orleans area. The mall chose to cater to them by opening stores that the locals would not shop at causing the locals to move on to Lakeside instead. The people they catered to obviously just went to the mall to hang out and steal, not spend money. Therefore, Lakeside has thrived and the Esplanade inevitably shut down.
Sadly, in Baton Rouge the mall of Louisiana appears to be suffering the same type of fate with people just there to hang out and cause problems.

Got taken over by urban wear stores, and quickly went to shite post Katrina.
I know some local businessmen approached the mall's owner and offered to help him get some better stores in there to help bring it back to what it used to be. The guy flat out refused. Then Ida came and put the final nail in that coffin.
We used to ride out bikes there, grab lunch at the food court (Dante's Pizza FTW) and hang out in the arcade. Its a shame its gone.

Lakeside is centrally located so that Mandeville, Metairie, and New Orleans residents can all access fairly easily.
There’s been a population shift in the Kennaire / Kenner area and not as families, anymore, to keep Esplanade small sustainable.
