and most of it can't be blamed on the industry itself right now.
Some of it can be traced back to the industry and their greediness just like the mortgage crises.
My next thought has nothing to do with why I disagree but they are quick to raise prices and slow to lower when the price per barrel drops all while many were posting record profits despite many Americans suffering during the great recession. Maybe you can see why some Americans take the attitude that O&G can F off.

I have been on this site since 2016 so maybe it was exceptionally prevalent before I got here but I haven’t seen any of the posts you’re talking about.
Then you are being purposely obtuse because they exist and have existed after 2016.

they were all melts from five years ago. no one is posting them regularly.
oh I remember and I also remember that opinion not being popular and it being like maybe 2 or 3 posters that would argue it

Yeah, but a shitton of businesses and people did get bailed out during that fiasco. And that was something the industry caused.
The guy you’re referring to sounds like a home builder. I’m pretty sure he did nothing to cause 2008.
Hell, I’ve working in banking for over a decade. My work doesn’t have anything to do with CDO’s, poor capital reserves or any of the other shenanigans that lead to 2008. But I’ve still seen a lot of good people get shown the door during my time here and have had our CEO constantly tell us to turn off lights and save paper clips for expense control.
I empathize with my O&G baws right now, I really do. But I’m not going to feel bad about gas at $1.50 anymore than I expected people to feel bad about getting 30 year-fixed at 3.75% to buy their homes for the past several years.

Agreeing with magilda is a sure sign that your argument is weak

you sure to go waay out your way to prop up this fallacy

Agree, but I think it's just plain common sense that having oil at $60 to $80 and stable is where we need to be.
I'm guessing the price of gas is $2 to $2.50 for most of the country in that situation and it's a good enough balance to keep the industry employed.

I do think it's silly that there are people out there thinking other working-class people should blindly find a way to prop up O&G
no one is bailing out the O&G industry. No one within the O&G industry (at least the big NA contenders) would even ask that or expect. that is purely speculation on your part stout.
this is going to go down exactly like it will for small businesses. Bye bye small/medium sized O&G related companies, only the major players will be able to weather the storm.

You shouldn’t feel bad

Most O&G guys on here were fine when gas was $1.50 a gallon in LA
We’re way past that now
I won’t geosteer possibly ever again. Ah well I sucked at it anyway

Correct. All want us for us to open the damn country back for business and hopefully things will slowly start to work itself out.

I work in the construction field and our business has weathered many storms, literally and otherwise.
No one bailed us out, we just get lean and survive. Save a little for a rainy day.
Our business is loving the low fuel costs, and it allows us to have more money to pay bonuses and keep healthcare costs down for our employees. So I don't feel bad that some 26 year old roughneck cant make his $1000 truck payment next month.

See this is the kind of silliness I can't stand. I'm sure you are just doing your thing because this is the OT, but most of oil and gas is not those kind of baws.
I get it that it's the normal thing to throw out there, but it's not true.
