i see we've turned this thread from interesting news from Nike into a bash conservatives/republicans thread.
because yes, everyone who votes, not Blue, is a toothless hillbilly with Klan ties.

Piers Morgan crushed it:
It was always ALL about the $$$ for Kaep. Otherwise, what has he done with his national spotlight and adoration in the last 3 years? not a fricking thing.
quote:
Then the announcement of the Nike campaign occurred, and that was too much for Morgan. He wrote, “ … it turns out Nike have not just been paying him vast sums of money throughout this whole protest process, they have also just signed him up to a whacking new multi-million dollar deal. So in terms of financial reward, he hasn’t really sacrificed much at all, let alone 'everything.' Indeed, it could be argued that Kaepernick will now make more money from Nike and the vast PR impact of this new deal than he ever would have done as an ageing, declining football player.”
Morgan quoted Jason Whitlock, Fox Sports commenter, who bristled, “Told y’all from Day One this has always been about the money. All of it. Revolutionaries aren’t sponsored by major corporations. It’s been a hustle from the giddy-up.” Morgan commented, “He’s got a point hasn’t he?”
Morgan concludes, “Until today, I genuinely thought Colin Kaepernick was acting purely from a point of fiercely held principle, and one I happen to agree with. Now, I’m not so sure. By taking Nike’s money, Kaepernick’s made it seem like he won’t salute the flag, but he will bow down to the dollar. And by filling his boots with corporate cash, he’s made a mockery of any suggestion that he’s been ‘sacrificing everything.'”
It was always ALL about the $$$ for Kaep. Otherwise, what has he done with his national spotlight and adoration in the last 3 years? not a fricking thing.

And I imagine the buzz the media has created for Trump is in the billions, yet . . . .
its not changing one damn thing. Neither will Nike

Yep because stereotyping people is acceptable if it is a view you don’t agree with. For the record I only care about the marketing aspect of this and the business aspect.

Is that similar to $43 million in real money?

I guess they are subscribing to the “any press is good press” theory. They can also create “media buzz” by burning down their HQ building but I wouldn’t advise it.

It's difficult to predict the full long-term impact of this campaign. Is this another weekly social media uproar that will be forgotten in a couple of months or is it something that our staunch conservatives will remember forever?
Nike is the leading provider of athletic gear for most universities, which helps to keep it #1 in the minds of our youth. Do the various Boards (i.e. old white guys) have any influence on determining whether to switch from Nike to another brand? Or is it someone else that makes these decisions?

the fact that you think only the right side of the aisle bends for the dollar, tells me there is no point in you and i having any sort of debate on this matter.

we'll see how
call me when this translates to cash in the bank. Otherwise, I can recall a time in the late 90's when tech/.com company revenues didn't really matter anymore b/c their brand worth was soooo great just b/c it was an online business #techbubble

definitely smart business

Other than donating over a million dollars to various charities, as well as fundraising and handing out suits to people looking for jobs.
You didn't hear about that?

Not sure if free advertising is worth it when you drop 3 billion in stock price. No telling how much they lost in sales.
As a general rule it isn’t smart to mix business and politics. Why alienate 1/2 your customer base?

yeah, not impressed.
there's an african american high school teacher who's managed to go around Houston to every thrift shop he can find so he can outfit every child with a tie for Tie Tuesday's at a very large 5A high school in Texas. A trend he created along with a social club, teaching young African American children (mainly boys) the importance of owning and wearing a tie, suit, and dress clothes.
that's much more impressive to me. 0 millions. No corporate $$$. Didn't divide anyone in the country.. Much more of a positive impact.
