We're having trouble competing with the likes of Ole Miss at the moment, as least as it regards to per-student spending.

So no more quad and replacing it with a cross like it was originally designed.
What will we do about quad jokes???

Good. Close down SUNO and a couple other 4 year universities. Cut programs that dont prepare anybody for worthwhile jobs. Make LSU a flagship that can at least compete with places like UF and A&M. Unrealistic to compete with public schools like UT Austin, UNC and UVA.
I was applauding you until the last sentence. I honestly believe that LSU could easily compete if given the proper funding and (LISTEN UP LEGISLATURE!) that doesn't mean more taxes. It means doing more with what we have by, as you correctly state, getting rid of our numerous (ridiculously numerous) bullshite extraneous universities in this state. Why in the ever living frick do we have this many four year schools? Put a Junior College in each region, two or three vo-tech schools in each region and one big, massive kick arse state university at LSU. Hell, for the money we would save in facilities, salaries and redundant administration, I bet we could offer free tuition and board for those that qualify to attend the big, bad arse LSU.

What does LSU have against parking garages?
Nothing, really. There is a new garage planned next to Tiger Stadium as part of the Master Plan.

Had some fun in the dark corners of the upper floors.

Kirby is coming down soon. They are installing new equipment in the physical plant so not soon. Not sure about the others.

After reading a few more pages it appears to be a poorly drawn set of softball fields for UREC.
It looked pretty clear to most of us.
If you saw a frickin helo pad or anything besides rec ball fields, it's you , not the rendering. Retards.

There are actually a few garages in the plan to be built. If they can pull this off, it's going to be first rate. It will help attract a lot of students.

These renderings look excellent. Well done.
Now, how do we actually make this happen?

Well, it has risen so much partly because LSU is underfunded as compared to its peer institutions. A lot of people don't get that LSU is competing with other schools for students, faculty, grant money, prestige. You need a nice, modern campus to do that. And you need to spend money to get there.
I get really annoyed with people who don't care about making LSU a priority, or supporting it, or improving it. The damn place could be a powerhouse.
Sorry, I reject the notion that a nice, pretty, and expensive campus makes a good school. Good programs, teachers, students make a good university, which increases prestige. Following that, then up the luxury factor.
Further, if I have a choice between two schools, and it comes down to academics vs university luxury, I am going academics every day, especially if I am taking out loans to do so. The education I get lasts a lot longer than my time at LSU.
Education should be first, not university architecture and pretty buildings.

I'm not arguing with you here. The problem is that 18 year old kids don't see it that way. A college needs to provide both top notch academics and good facilities. Academics being equal, which one is the average student going to go with? The one with the beautiful campus, or the shithole that was ca. 1990's LSU?
Like I said, this is a market.

Agreed but you don't attract the top talent professors without having infrastructure worthy of top talent.
Both have to be focused upon and risen simultaneously.

The state should also close Northwestern St as well. With La Tech & ULM I don't understand why they need northwestern st.
Of course what makes sense & what will actually happen are two different things, but I would like to see more focus go towards LSU.

This is the real problem.
I just see projects like this as expanding an already stressed education bubble to meet student demand, supplied by ever enlarging student loans, driven by ever enlarging tuition prices.
Its like no one is daring to ask the question of what happens if that money spigot gets turned off.

Yeah having the campus under constant construction is just fabulous.

At some point it will be literally impossible to commute to LSU and park. Just since when I started at LSU in 2011 to now the amount of commuter parking they got rid of is insane

That's part of the plan. More quality on campus housing = less commuters.
