Fair point.

A decent pair of khakis is no more expensive than a pair of jeans.

When you were growing up, huh? So, how often do you go to Mass and still feel comfortable judging others for their attire when they probably attend every week.

Every time I read this on the OT I'm convinced folks think it means there are buttons all down the front...instead of correctly referring to a buttoned down collar. In this case I'm sure of it again.

Religion is continuing to go by the wayside.

How many of those attendees drink too much and cheat on their wives?

Religion can’t dissapear fast enough.

The more I think about it the more I realize that the things that separate people regarding religion are disputes or differences about rules thought up by humans instead of interaction between humans and God.

It goes (at least) all the way back to the early church where there was a big dispute about whether the gentiles who joined the church would be required to abide by Jewish dietary and other (ie circumcision) laws. And down through the ages, every time there has been a split or schism it seems to be about one type of petty detail or another.

I think on of the main genius moves of the founding fathers of the country was to decide that people can decide these details for themselves and worship how they want without trying to wipe out those who want to worship differently.

You sound like the headliner in Luke 18:11.

Maybe you should think about that.

Never in my life have I seen so many people wearing their “Church jeans” with boots.

Jesus held company with prostitutes and lepers. You stand in judgement of those because they are wearing the wrong type of pants, according to you.

Atttitudes like yours is why so many don't even bother with church anymore.

The only thing I really have a problem with someone wearing to church is a hat. Went to the same church as the Duck Dynasty guys for a while until they got big and it was a massive hassle to even get in the sanctuary. Jase would always wear a hat, as well as many in the congregation. Most wouldn’t even take them off to pray.

Maybe it was the way I was raised, but I wasn’t even allowed to wear a hat indoors. My Dad would have a heart attack if he saw baseball caps in church.

I hear ya. Things have really changed in my lifetime. The stuff people wear to church these days, well, they just wouldn’t have even dreamed of it back when I was a kid. We had suits or sport coats, or at least button down shirts and slacks, usually accompanied with a tie. Ever since then, I’ve seen it get more and more casual. I fully expect to see PJ’s and slippers in the not too distant future. At least they’re showing up I suppose, but then again, the message has gotten pretty causal as well.

I get it. Like I said, way I was raised. I’m pretty sure the Pope prays with a hat on right?

I’m still waiting on where to find any biblical basis to wearing your “Sunday best.” Sounding mighty legalistic...
