Just got Lasik, couple questions about it.

#1. How long until the haze and blurriness of lights at night goes away?
#2. Perhaps it's in my head but I really cannot read anything in the distance and it's kind of annoying.
#3. Does my vision get worse over time?
I got the procedure done over a month ago and I have an appointment with my doctors on the 24th but the inconsistent vision is driving me crazy.

Aren't these questions for the doctor? Why don't you just call the office and ask?

Blur at night, around lights (halos around light) won't go away, but you'll eventually adapt to it. Eventually, assuming you are plano correction now, you will become farsighted, when you get into your 40's. This is due to the lens, in you eye, changing, and doesn't really have anything to do with lasik

From my experience, I recall being randomly freaked out from time to time the first month or so because my vision was doing weird things. It pretty much clears up after the first month or so. If you are still having issues after 4-6 weeks, definitely get that check out. I was also a bit cavalier and technically went on a field operation (I'm in the military) a week earlier than I should have, but I only did so because my vision was fine. Definitely apply the tears generously.

I had lasik done a year ago. Use the drops, if you think you are using them enough, use them more.
Also, the first month my vision was terrible and i thought I made a huge mistake. It gets better,now I'm 20/20

You need to be applying the rewetting drops 4-6 times a day.
I had dry eyes and had to get restatis, and after about 4-6 months, my tear ducts started producing normally again.

Ooh it sounds like you developed optic nerve necrosis. Hopefully it won't get that much worse

Had mine done 3 years ago. Best move ever.
1 - I recall driving to work in the mornings the following week and seeing a halo around lights coming towards me, but that went away during that week.
2 - Same as #1
3 - As you age, your vision will get worse. My distant vision is still good, which is why I had the surgery, but I notice I squint now for things up close. I'm 44, and the Dr said that would likely happen with age.
Get this stuff called Genteal. Over the counter gel. The first several days my eyes hurt each morning because they were dehydrated. Nothing worked. But each night I would coat my eyes in that gel and from that moment on #'s 1 and 2 went away, along with the dehydration.

Your vision is goofy for a couple weeks to a month. I had it a yr ago and it was one of the best decisions of my life. FFFFFF CONTACTS!!!
Seriously though your dad should have told you what to expect. Mine told me everything that normally happens so I wouldn't worry the surgery went wrong.
Also like others have said. Use the damn drops especially before bed. If u wake up in middle of the night then add the drops again.

Drops. I was instructed to apply drops every hour of the day every day for the first month. Also, flax oil will help. One tablespoon in the morning will help hydrate and additional benefits.

Just remember that for the rest of your life if you rub your eye the wrong way your cornea flap will come undone and you'll be fricked. Sleep tight.

As far as your vision - I could not open my eyes for the first 36 hours after surgery, but the second I did ---
a whole new world. I could see leaves on trees versus green blobs, etc.
Sounds like you need a trip to the DR, IMO you should not still be having blurred or unclear vision.

I had no problems except for the halos around lights. That went away after a month to six weeks.

quote:Yes, especially if you're younger. I got it done at 25, and they warned me that it was a bit young and the younger you are the more your vision changes over time. It's gotten worse over the years, but it's still better than what it was before I got it.
