Damn, I don't even have one. Haven't cared to get one since I replaced my windshield.

There is no law that says you have a 30 day grace period, but a reasonable cop who is not trying to make a quota should have cut you some slack and let you off with a warning.

It’s not lazy it’s just a crock of shite. Just another scam for the state to make money off of. Hell some states don’t even have them. I want to say Mississippi didn’t require them.

I have a crack in my windshield so I can’t get a new sticker. I figure a ticket would be much cheaper than replacing the whole windshield.

Do you have comprehensive insurance on your car? I have always gotten free windshields under that provision.

Hypothetically speaking, let's say you commute an hour to work. You get pulled over for inspection sticker in the city you work in and then get pulled over again in a different city on your way home. Can you just show the second cop the ticket and he will let you on your way or will they ticket you too?

I haven’t even bothered to get one.
My vehicle is brand new anyway.

Ehh I see police vehicles and city vehicles without them. I see some with them.
It’s all bullshite is what it is.
Plenty of cars driving around with head lights out and brake lights out.
Also notice people with those license plate covers that get all dirty and shite and can’t even see the plate. Maybe they should just pull those people over instead of the people that have functioning everything but an expired tag.

I tried to renew mine yesterday when getting my oil changed and they said they couldn't issue the stickers because they are waiting on state to renew their license. This is evidently a statewide issue.

Don't leave out a former head of State Police that is now a legislator diving in to protect that State Police Revenue either.

Get inspection sticker before court date. Show up at court with proof of sticker.
Not always.
I got a ticket once for expired inspection, told me if I get the inspection done by the court date they would throw it out. Does up to court and they say nope, then complained to me about the cop telling me that.

I've had the gas station inspection guy tell me there is no grace period, and I know folks who got tickets during the 30-day window, but the one calendar month "grace period" law (cited on the first page of this thread) has been on the books for decades.
If you drive during the month after a sticker expires, print this statute and keep it in the car to show any cop you may encounter. Some may still write you a ticket because the only "law" they know is what some other idiot told them (incorrectly), but the ones who can read and comprehend will understand.
Louisiana revised statutes § 32:1304(A)(1) requires the inspections.
"The secretary shall at least once every other year, but not more frequently than twice each year, require that every motor vehicle, low-speed vehicle, trailer, semitrailer, and pole trailer registered in this state be inspected and that an official certificate of inspection and approval be obtained for such vehicle."
The statute goes on to set out various rules and requirements, then it lists various exceptions.
E. (1) The mere failure of the owner or operator of a motor vehicle required by this Section to be inspected to obtain a current and valid inspection certificate shall not be in violation, provided that the certificate has been expired less than one calendar month; nor shall an owner or operator be in violation if he shall produce on demand, under Subsection B of this Section, a certificate of inspection for the vehicle valid and effective for not more than six months and not in current display on the windshield by reason of replacement of the windshield glass.
(2) However, when a certificate of inspection is removed from a windshield by reason of replacement of windshield glass, the owner of the vehicle may be issued, for a fee of five dollars and twenty-five cents and return of the original certificate to an inspection certificate station, a certificate which shall be valid for the time remaining on the original certificate.
F. The purchaser of a used vehicle from a private individual shall be protected from citations for failure to have an inspection tag during the interval between the date of purchase and the receipt of title, provided proof of application can be shown.

There was a push a few years ago in the state legislature to do way with the inspection sticker law. Modern vehicles largely make the yearly inspection requirement outdated. However, inspection businesses cried about losing revenue. So, our “small government” legislators shelved the repeal, and kept the requirement.
I’m sorry, but if you are making your living by being a parasite on a government program, I have no sympathy. And to the original post, you have a 30 day grace period per State law. I had to embarrass a Port Allen city cop in court over this. Even the judge was unaware.
