what? I hadn't heard about this, maybe I missed it but apparently so did everyone else because the roads are packed. Harris County's stay-at-home order extended through May 20, residents encouraged to report violators

Where exactly does she get the authority to do this? I didn’t realize judges could just issue orders whenever they felt like it.

She’s not an actual judge. Texas calls the elected head of a county a “a county judge.” Nothing to do with legal training or the legal system. She’s an executive official.

I thought all the State lockdown orders allowed local authorities to be more strict. The only restriction was that they couldn’t be less strict than the state order — only more.

Which means if Abbot says everything is open on May 17th that controls.
If Abbot says nothing then yes she can be more strict. But for example she wasn’t going to allow the 25% capacity openings until Abbot mandated it.
Compare to JBE’s language, which allowed for some reopenings and curbside service, but gave local leaders the ability to forbid any type of reopening.

I live in Houston and have yet to wear a mask. But one problem here has been crime- they are giving out citations instead of arresting law breakers!! Insane!! But then these idiot libs voted in this little inexperienced bimbo, what could we have expected??
