I don’t know why this wouldn’t happen. They’re made for each other. Both have FU money and value free speech.

Why can't he just go back to doing what he did before and upload to YouTube?

Youtube is Lib.

He needs to go to Rumble.

He's extremely wealthy, but not a billionaire.

Does Twitter/X pay anyone for the rights to any show?

I thought they just allowed anyone to post to the platform.

No, but Rogan is a juggernaut. The CEO is an ad exec so maybe they can work a multi-party deal out.

Because of his relationship with Elon Musk, I think the most obvious would be X. I hope it is because I am ready to move on from Spotify and he is pretty much the only reason I haven't cancelled my subscription with them.

I just figured it out using the number of episodes he had last year (178), if he decided to not to sign with anyone and put each episode on youtube, like he did before he signed with Spotify, he would generate around $17M just from youtube. That doesn't include the sponsors who are direct sponsors and what he gets from having his podcast on Apple's podcast platform.

The only bad thing about that is Youtube can pull an episode without even notifying you (like they did Theo Vonn when he had Roseanne on his). But Rogan is in good shape. He does have a lot of repeaters who come on his show, sometimes I feel like he gets someone he has easy access to who can come in for a few hours just to have an episode to put up, but I don't blame him, it seems much easier to bring in someone who has already been on than having to vet out someone and then not knowing if they will be good material for an episode, etc.

I can really only see him going independent if he doesn't stick with Spotify, which seems to be the only platform that is open enough to not censor him (outside of not allowing certain old episodes to move to spotify). Sure, he could go to Rumble but they don't have the $$ to land his podcast unless he's willing to take a big paycut.

Actually, X would probably be the next option. I could see Musk giving him a sweet deal, and Musk wants X to be bigger with videos / podcasts / etc.
