This is generally speaking good advice but I've broken that rule recently

And DEFINITELY don’t let them know you’re a thief

Did she come in and let you see what the company money paid for?

In college I got a job at Dominos. I was there probably a week. I was a delivery driver. On my day off, the manager called me and asked me to come in. I declined. I was enjoying my time; not to mention it was also raining pretty bad.
So, he rephrased it and said "I'm no longer asking, I'm telling you to report to work. If you are not here in the next hour, then you no longer have a job here". I told him to have fun delivering pizzas tonight, and hung up.
I had another job later at Goodwill. After graduation when I accepted my real job. I decided to be nice and to provide a 2-weeks notice. We were under-staffed, so I was trying to be helpful. The very next day after providing the notice. There was a supervisor I didn't get along with. She got in my face to yell again, like she used to love to do. I usually just ate it, but I was fed up that day and said something to the effect of, "lady you can suck my dick. It's not my fault you're mad because you're 50 years old and only making $13 an hour." I walked off, and that was the end of that.
That was very out of line of me, I normally don't talk like that to people at all. But I REALLY did not like her, and couldn't hold it in any longer.

Had a job in the food court at the mall during high school. During football & track season, I could not get to the shop before 5:30 due to practice schedules. The owner and manager knew this and would schedule me for 5:30 to close. New manager comes in and changes my schedule to 4 to close for the rest of the week. I was off the day he changed it, so I did not know until I showed up to work for my next shift.
He starts laying into me about being late. I told him my schedule, he points to the edited schedule. I told him to call the owner, he said the owner was not in charge when he was on duty. I tried to walk off, and he bitched at me to clock in. So, I did and left.
Was paid for the day and had to collect my check from the owner's wife. When asked, told her what happened while the manager was ease dropping in the kitchen. Friend that was working there told me he was fired about an hour after I left so "he could not retaliate on me in the parking lot"

The first "real" job I ever had was at a Dairy Queen. I didn't want the job, but my sister and her friend worked there and kept on until they got me to take it.
I had two shifts of training and then had a week-long school trip. I came back after that trip for my third shift and they essentially gave me the entire back end of the restaurant by myself. I didn't have a clue about half the shite I was supposed to do. I was 15 and not driving. I lasted less than two hours before I used the phone in the office and called my mom to come pick me up. I didn't tell anyone, just left without a word.

Fortunately for me, I’ve never had an a-hole boss. I secretly wish that I did so I could leave with absolutely zero notice and a big FU.
I love reading stories or seeing videos about people who do this

I've only walked out on a job one time in my life - moved down to Orange Beach one summer to live with my uncle for a summer and got a job at a restaurant.
During the interview, I mentioned that in two weeks I had to be off for a bachelor party in NOLA. A week and a half goes by and on Thursday they come out with the schedule for that weekend (Bachelor party weekend) and the following week. I asked around to see if anyone would swap shifts (they wouldn't), so, as I was leaving that night (Thursday), I went to GM and mentioned that I saw my name on the calendar for this weekend and I reminded him that I had asked off because of the bachelor trip and he basically said tough shite, we need you here. So, I told him that I understood and that I hoped he understood why tonight is my last night and walked out.
The next day, before I left on the trip, I went by Zeke's Landing and got a job starting that next Monday. Was an awesome choice, loved working at Zeke's that summer.
Because I quit before I received my first check, I had to go pick it up in person and that was pretty awkward, but it all worked out.

I was the Men's manager at a Steinmart and we were getting nailed by a shoplifting group. My department was L-shaped, with a giant, vision-blocking display right in the fricking middle and corporate was so cheap that I was often working the area by myself.
A big part of managers' performance reviews was "shrink" (theft) so all of us (department managers) had complained long and loud about a lack of instore security since store management had never rehired anyone to work security after the last guy left. The store manager's answer? He hired a midget woman. That's not an exaggeration. Even wearing high heels she wouldn't have scraped 5ft tall. Oh, and her son was eventually seen stealing something... but I digress.
One Sunday I happened to have some workers in when one of the gals from the Returns desk called me over to tell me a guy had just walked out the store with some stolen shorts (he had walked up to the rack, moved a size that fit him to the front, released the clips so they fell to the ground, then just stepped into them, pulled them up and then walked out).
I looked out the exterior door (we were in a mall with both interior and exterior doors) and saw him casually walking along the sidewalk to the next store, the sizing sticker and tags easy to see even from a distance. He then went into the big anchor store at the end
I had the gal behind the counter call mall security and have them meet me at the store, then I took off into the mall, then into the anchor store to see if I could track him until mall security showed up.
I quickly spotted him and quietly followed him, the Mission Impossible theme was playing in my head. He went completely through the store and out the exterior door on its opposite side. I watched him from the door (mirrored glass) as he went into the K&B a few doors down.
I sprinted back into the mall where I met mall security, a heavyset guy and a young, slim guy (whom I later found out had been a track standout). The heavyset guard said he would go outside and wait, the slim guy and I went in through the mall entrance. I confronted him and he agreed to come back to the store with us to get this sorted out. As we were walking through the store, he bolted when we got near the exterior door.
The slim security guard was hot on his heels, I was pulling up the rear, the heavyset guard apparently stayed with a "frick this shite" mindset.
We chased the guy through the mall parking lot and into the lot of the bank next door. We chased him through the empty teller lanes and out into the roadway where traffic was stopped for a red light. He ran around the front of a truck with a young girl sitting in the driver's seat (looked barely old enough to have a license). As he ran around the front, she reached over and locked the passenger door. He tried the door and couldn't get in. With the slim guard coming around the front of the truck, he stopped trying to get in and decided to try to continue his fleeing by climbing over/through the bed of the truck.
I had gone around the driver's side of the truck and began climbing into the bed the moment he did (seeing what he was about to do, because he was focused on the guard and not me). He tried to wrestle his way by me, but by then the guard had climbed into the truck bed as well and we quickly put the thief down and handcuffed him (the young girl was freaked out and crying because she didn't know wtf was going on).
We led him back to the secure room in the store and called the store manager to see what he wanted to do. His stance was to let the guy go if he just gave back the shorts. The thief gave the shorts back. I was pissed. The other department managers were pissed. Mall security was pissed (and even told him the next time the store calls it may take them a while to respond).
The next day was our weekly manager's meeting where I lit into him about how he was screwing us all by being soft on the sort of crime that was hurting everyone in the room. His response was that it was HIS store and HE would manage it however the hell HE saw fit and *I* would do what he said. I tossed my manager's badge at him as I told him to shove it up his arse because I quit.
It's the only job I've ever walked out on. To this day I have no regrets on that. #CSB

I was working on a construction site in my early 20’s on a side job when I heard these two Hispanic guys chasing each other and yelling. I really didn’t think much of it at the time, except for the chasing part , the yelling happened all the time. I came into work the next morning and was talking to the foreman when he mentioned that he had to find a new roofing crew. Apparently during the night, one of the guys assaulted the other one with a hammer and likely fled the country or was in the process of fleeing. I am not sure if that kind of rage quitting can be topped lol

I spent a couple of years in a leadership position in a software company and never really enjoyed it. I had a scheduled meeting with my CEO and was going to resign. I walked in with my resignation letter in a folder, but before I could say a word, HR walked in and I was told my position was being eliminated.
The CEO then slid an envelope across the table with a check for 6 months of wages.
If he had kept his mouth shut for 5 minutes, I would have been gone without costing them a dime.
It’s my favorite story.

This is mkt a personal quitting story but this involved a nurse on duty in the wing of a rehab facility where my MIL was assigned for 2 weeks. MIL was rehabbing from hip surgery. Meds were blocking her up so they administered meds to loosen her stool. Well, the stool meds worked fast and furious and we had to push the button to get a nurse or assistant to come in to clean up MIL.
The staff was short which I found later was a problem because people were quitting right and left. This caused response times to be very slow. MIL sat with a diaper full of stench for 2 hours. Nurse came in and said the assistant that wipes bottoms quit on the spot. Nurse cleans up the mess for MIL. 30 mins later MIL presses the nurse call button again because she blasted another round of stench. Nobody came to the room. An hour later I walked around the facility and each nurse I found had way too much going on. Our assigned nurse just quit that night and wasn’t going to deep clean some old behind again in that west wing.

My first job was working at the Albertsons on Old Hammond Highway in Baton Rouge for a couple of summers. This was the only job I ever walked out on without notice.
The second summer that I worked there was the one between my high school graduation and starting my first semester at LSU. I told them on day one "I start LSU on August such-n-such, and after that I can only work evenings and weekends." I remined the manager of that probably a dozen times over that summer.
The week of my start at LSU, the manager posts the work schedule, and has me working a 30 hour week, all daytime hours. I go to the manager and say, "I told you I was starting LSU on such-and-such, and can only work evenings and weekends after that." The manager says this is the first that he has heard of that. So I say, "Okay, no problem."
I left that day and never went back. After missing three days, they call me up and ask where I've been. "I told you idiots I start LSU this week. I've been in class!" So they ask me if I was quitting, and I said "you figure it out!" and hung up the phone. That was my first, and last retail job. I got an office job on campus the following week and have worked in offices ever since.
