She didn't. She's exaggerating because she knows today's media won't call bullshite on her lies. She had one hit record that had two songs that went to number 2. That's it. Considering it was her debut and she was unknown prior to it, you can bet her contract gave the record company most of the profit from the sales of her record.

I think the family has been/is independently wealthy from Jewel. I’m not sure that she provided anything monetarily to their homestead and has never been asked to, so maybe that has played a role in her seemingly good relationship with her father.
On a side note, I always get a kick out of these yuppies that watch that show, move to an area in BFE, buy some chickens, and then spend all of their time complaining in town at the coffee shop in their Carhart suit.

I've seen this wording used by other artists who went broke. Jewel, the individual, has never seen close to $100 million. She's probably generated 100 million in revenue through record sales and touring and now has nothing from it.
