When I was at LSU in the 90's, a friend of the devil's lettuce was a friend of mine. The 1st time that we discovered the late night Jesse Duplantis infomercial was one of the best laughs I've had in my entire life.

Fire was engulfing the world and Jesse was the only one that could save us. With his witty jokes that were balanced with serious 'real talk', he briefly took over as the king of late late TV over Jerry Springer.

Does anyone know where I can donate? This seems like a worthy cause.

I am debating starting my own church to make a hunting property the "church". Apparently pretty much all you need to get the tax exemption is some book that you follow and 1 service per year. I am thinking about calling it "Church of the Second Amendment" or "Church of Louisiana Sportsmen"

ETA: Possibly "Church of the Sportsman's Paradise"

Aren't they great for comedic relief??? I would sometimes watch this one guy years ago named Robert Tilton who I believe was out of Dallas. He would start talking in tongues and squinting his eyes while making all sorts of weird facial contortions like he was possessed by the Holy Spirit.

He'd be "Yabba dabba dooing all over the place, then came the money spiel for donations to continue his "ministry".

It was better than the old Hanna/Barberra cartoons.

I haven’t read the thread, but don’t lump this sack of shite televangelist in with all Christians.

Prosperity gospel is not Biblical.

I doubt anyone cares that he has that stuff. It's how he gets the money to buy those things that anger people.

Never ceases to amaze me how someone can just openly get away with basically fraud. I remember years ago wondering why the local Pentecostal preacher in my small hometown was able to live in a mansion near the local country club and drive a Cadillac. Guy would hammer people weekly about tithing to build up gods kingdom. He was eventually discredited and left town after it was discovered he banged about 1/3 of the married ladies in the choir. Ridiculous.

Trina Edwards is trolling Brother Jesse on Facebook

She wants to know if Jesse is single cause he has 3 jets and Edwin doesn’t even have 1.

Well, Jesus turned the tables over in the temple when people were selling and buying. This guy is no better. Actually worse that he’s taking money from people to fund his own private desires.

“And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves”

only if you don't lump radical terrorists in with all Muslims.... deal?

see, both groups, terrorists and televangelists, are perversions of their respective religions.... and while i don't value any religion, many on earth do, so don't go throwing rocks in a glass house

That is an automatic tune out for me. As soon as I hear preachers spending their entire sermons on money I tune them out entirely. Christ Himself spent very little time on it than they do, instead focusing on people’s hearts and relationship with God, which is why He was sent in the first place, reconciliation with God and communion with Him, not getting people rich. That, He is on record with being against as He knew it was a distraction from our communion with Him.

Wouldn’t purchasing some air time via NETJETS for these really long flights where it is to inconvienent to have to stop and refuel be a more prudent use for his flock’s donations, rather than coming out of pocket $54m?

What a POS!

While I agree with most of the disdain in this thread - the “tax free” part is false. A pastor’s income is taxable.

The “tax free” aspect applies to housing.

Wrong. His income may be taxed. But Go take a look at the tax rolls for st Charles parish. St Charles parish assessor - it’s a free search.

The ministry owns, Duplantis’s house on river road. He and his family live there and the pay $0 in Parish property tax on it. Largest and probably most valuable homes in St. Charles parish and $0 in taxes paid.

He and these prosperity gospel people are use the tax laws to their advantage to fund ridiculous lifestyles.
