He likely didn’t expect to culminate with hitting a lift at high speeds and knocking himself silly and anticipated having a chance for a standoff/shootout/maybe even running away in the chaos

Maybe a press conference over an ISIS terror attack is not the best environment for roast humor.
But I guess it was worth a try. It took a while for 9/11 jokes to take off, so I guess somebody has to go first.
