They try not to put the Olympics in known shite holes.

Agree. The Satan like heat we had today would most certainly be conducive to outdoor sporting events.
It’s currently 89, Heat Index of 100 with 63% humidity in Tokyo.

New Orleans can’t even host the Bayou Classic without someone getting shot

There are at least 3 dozen cities bare minimum that would more qualified to host the summer Olympics over New Orleans. Or Louisiana in general.

Olympics last way longer. They would never get the venues completed in time.

Yup I've seen some Olympic Pool sized pot holes in my time.

Except for the unreliable electric grid.

Could you imagine the venues returning to nature afterwards. There are probably (almost) enough venues to host the games, but the IOC demanding new stadiums is what makes it a losing proposition for everyone.

The heat and humidity fricked up the Track and Field trials years ago.

any American city would be doing more renovating than actually building them
we have a lot of plausible venues from Baton Rouge to Mobile

Yeah they've been LIGHTS out

It could have happened pre 1960’s but that time is over. The best years are over for New Orleans.

See '84 Worlds Fair.....But it did help create the Warehouse District.

Isn’t the river walk to where each of those stores was a country exhibit???

You serious Clark?….
Everything you love about Nola is the reason we couldn’t not to mention the facilities are no where near the level needed.

How would the normal corruption of the IOC interact with the normal corruption of this "great state"? In disastrous ways for someone.

Not from there but here's my take based off reading the OT.
Latoya the destroya watches every athlete closely. If anyone notices the bodies sticking out of the collapsed building she immediately straps a covid mask on them and has a homeless person shoot them in the French Quarter.
