Mobile is still having their Mardi Gras though. No word yet on Eunice.

Jazz Fest cancellation is all but guaranteed now too Mo

NOLA: The Queen has spokeneth and she decrees there will be No king cake for the people this year.

One of the persistent questions regarding the upcoming Carnival season is whether parades will be permitted in New Orleans.

A section of Mayor LaToya Cantrell's page on the city's website appears to have addressed that question, and the answer is "No."

Under the Frequently Asked Questions section of the mayor's web page on Mardi Gras 2021 is a straightforward section addressing parades next year.

"Question: Will there be parades in the City of New Orleans this year?

"Answer: Parades of any kind will not be permitted this year because large gatherings have proven to be super spreader events of the COVID-19 virus."

In ages past, the destroya would have been an exhibit on a gibbet.

All those parades who were on the fence about Jefferson Parish due to the two year requirement in the contract might want to go ahead and sign those.

Running two years in Metairie beats not running this year and no guarantee of next year.

I'm sure the entire city of New Orleans will fully support Toya's decision on this matter, right?

The comments on social media are overwhelmingly in favor of this decision. It's both astounding and terrifying.

Part of the problem is that the comments are from social media.

Lots of virtue signaling idiots and bots out there which give an outsized voice to the amount of actual support for those positions.
