If any of y'all want to read a great book I highly recommend "Inside the Third Reich" by Albert Speer. It is a fascinating account of the hierarchy of the Nazi Party.

There's enough reason to hate Hitler as a human being, but he did seem to have artistic talent.
It's a damn shame you weren't the one giving him feedback.

Would be great if you could hang a Hitler and a Churchill in the same room.

this is interesting. i was gonna post about how it seems like he's really good at drawing/painting buildings but not much else. then i read the thread and that appears to actually be the case. TIL

If he had created minimalist paintings along the lines of what he did designing the Nazi flag the art world would have loved it. His flag design was genius.

Luckily not ALL artists were frustrated. This sumbitch would have pushed the nuclear button and kilt us all before Lunch.

An insipid, uninspired artist

In 1936, after seeing the paintings Hitler submitted to the Vienna art academy, John Gunther wrote "They are prosaic, utterly devoid of rhythm, color, feeling, or spiritual imagination. They are architect's sketches painful and precise draftsmanship; nothing more. No wonder the Vienna professors told him to go to an architectural school and give up pure art as hopeless".
He was drawing the wrong type of pictures for the academy entrance.

Still a hell of a lot nicer to look at than much of that "Modern Art" crap I see on "Antiques Roadshow" selling for hundreds of thousands of dollars and it looks like a chimp got hold of 3 colors paint, an old brush and a piece of art canvas.

No, they never accepted him into art school from what I understand. He liked to paint buildings, and they suggested he go to architecture school instead.
But that required a lot more schooling and he didn't want to do that.
It's crazy when you think about things like this, and how seemingly small things like this can have potentially profound effects on society.

Fine, someone has to say it.
Germans
Germans

If you can be objective and remove the “but it was the Nazis” part from it, god the imagery, the uniforms, really up there with best looking. I mean, Hugo Boss, the death’s head. The reichsadler...
Clean lines, Prussian pageantry and German efficiency.
Although I do enjoy the pickelhaube

There's no denying the attraction to conformity as long as you are one of the in crowd. The Nazis did a hell of a job leveraging the industrial revolution.
