It's commonly said that Adolf Hitler was a terrible artist...

I love WWII history, and came across some of Hitler's actual paintings. There's enough reason to hate Hitler as a human being, but he did seem to have artistic talent. It's too bad he didn't make it as an artist..

Stuffy, lifeless, uninspired. It insists upon itself.

Wasn't he kicked out of art school? Then shortly after started his shenanigans?

Roof lines look off to me.

Weird since the rest of it seems pretty solid.

n his 1925 autobiography Mein Kampf, Adolf Hitler described how, in his youth, he wanted to become a professional artist, but his dreams were ruined because he failed the entrance exam of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.[4] Hitler was rejected twice by the institute, once in 1907 and again in 1908.[5] In his first examination, he had passed the preliminary portion which was to draw two of the assigned iconic or Biblical scenes, in two sessions of three hours each. The second portion was to provide a previously prepared portfolio for the examiners. It was noted that Hitler's works contained too few heads.[6] The institute considered that he had more talent in architecture than in painting.

Well, uh, they weren’t wrong.

I always felt like the "he was a terrible artist, got kicked out of art school" was a CIA/OSS intel thing to piss him off. They loved to do that kind of propaganda back then.

Just think how different history would be if he got accepted into art school

No, they never accepted him into art school from what I understand. He liked to paint buildings, and they suggested he go to architecture school instead.

But that required a lot more schooling and he didn't want to do that.

He couldn't paint people which kept him from pursuing his art in more formal academies.

I wonder what the market value would be for one of his paintings (black market or not).
