Always thought artists were nuts

He painted better than I can. If he had been accepted into art school millions would have not died.

He was regarded as a very talented architectural artist but as the last painting shows, he struggled with the human element which isn’t surprising

“I sense great vulnerability. A man-child crying out for love. An innocent orphan in the post-modern world.”
“I see a parasite. A sexually depraved miscreant who is seeking only to gratify his basest and most immediate urges.”
“His struggle is man's struggle. He lifts my spirit.”
“He is a loathsome, offensive brute. Yet I can’t look away.”
“He transcends time and space.”
“He sickens me.”
“I love it.”
“Me too.”

He had talent. No doubt.
I wonder if anyone remembers the Justified episode where an art dealer spent his life buying up all Hitler's paintings in order to burn them and carefully and professionally display their ashes in jars in the dealer's private gallery?

By the standards of Vienna and western art at the time, those paintings are nothing to make a career out of.
Of course we all wish he'd been a more talented artist and made it big in that arena.
You think? There was a lot of gasoline there, and a lot of people besides Hitler carrying matches.

And two otherwise cool sounding names. Well, it's hard to even think about them divorced from the monster. But I could see them being objectively cool but for him.

I’m not saying he’d be some world-renown painter, but a lot of the great works were done by people who had been doing it for decades longer than Hitler.

Would be great if you could hang a Hitler and a Churchill in the same room
Hitler could paint an entire apartment in a couple of hours. TWO coats.

He was good at painting buildings, but awful at everything else. It’s why the school he applied to told him to focus on being an architect. Hitler didn’t want to do that though, and lucky for him WWI was only 4 years away. His paintings were popular in furniture stores where they would be used to sell frames and not the pictures themselves.

I always felt like the "he was a terrible artist, got kicked out of art school" was a CIA/OSS intel thing to piss him off. They loved to do that kind of propaganda back then.
Hitler was already dead by the time the CIA was founded.
