It’s neither of these. It’s because of OnlyFans and social media influencing and streaming. Young people have way more opportunities today to make fast money than at any point in history. Adjusted for inflation young adult income is at a historical high right now.

I am just a dumb plant worker and my dumb arse could have said that.

Who am I going to hire to do remote work a older or semi retired highly experienced and skilled person. Or a fresh out of college person who has a ton of interest and distractions. Sucks for the youngster but give me experience.

Don’t worry. You are even dumber for giving this article any credibility.

Did you know that when you call your local Pizza Hut you are routed to a call center in India?

Benefits of not calling and going straight to the counter:

• You get to experience the smell of the cooking
• You get to experience 2 or 3 other languages all claiming to be English
• While waiting, pull out your phone and get ready to record a YouTube fight.

AI operators are no more helpful answering the phone than the old school systems of “Press 1 for sales, press 2 for accounting”

In fact, probably worse

I would be very hesitant to hire inexperienced workers in a remote position. I want the green employees to be onsite learning/asking questions and getting mentored - and I can monitor them a bit more. And I don't know if it is backed by facts, but I don't trust younger remote workers to be as driven to do their jobs as well.

The youngsters I am working with, especially engineers in the 24-30ish range are more or less retarded.

Company A outsources all IT to Infosys, as an operating expense. Company A hasn't "hired" any H1Bs or offshored Indians. They merely pay Infosys the operating expense, and Infosys "hires" the H1Bs and offshore Indians. Therefore, Company A does not employ any non citizens, which is why they don't show up on visa tracker websites. Yet, 100 US citizens are out of a job just the same.

Great summary how this works. My company did this recently with our accounts payable department. It’s a complete nightmare.

Yep.

Perhaps we can call it something nicer like work culture or hours of work, but the fact is most countries show up late, take a long lunch, and have no concept of deadlines.

They are staying home, sleeping late because they played video games until 3:30AM. I am not saying they are the majority of people in their late teens to mid 20s, its just that its more common now. And in some of these cases its the parents fault for still treating them like they are 12.

Parents need to go back to once they hit 18 they have to start figuring some shite out on their own. Stop cooking for them and don't wash their dirty laundry anymore and they will have no choice.. And long term it will be better for them.
