Your response makes no sense. I’m saying black soldiers fought for the USA and were then denied the same benefits of white soldiers when they returned the USA. Sure both soldiers served and sacrificed but let’s not pretend one sacrifice was greater. Can you imagine fighting for a country and then coming back to that country and not being allowed to sleep in a hotel room? How many of our grandfathers served in that mess but then came home and went to college for free and in return their kids went to college and you or your kids got to go to college. Well the black soldiers were never able to pass that benefit on to the next generation. Makes you wonder why they’re salty.

Did these guys just accept their fate, that they would likely die and they were at peace with that? Or were they delirious with fear? It's always been almost unnerving looking at pictures from Vietnam, World War II, and The Civil War and seeing such generic looks on their faces. Mine would be contorted and my teeth probably falling out

And we’ve come a long way in 76 years. The Civil Rights Movement wouldn’t come for another couple decades.
That fact, however, doesn’t diminish what these soldiers did on that day to prevent evil from advancing in the world. You must excuse humans for not having the capacity to deal with every injustice at the dawn of civilization. At this moment in history American soldiers died to make the world a better place.
Many Americans of all races have died in the effort to get to where we are today, both on D Day and against racial inequality. We can acknowledge those fact independently without keeping a record of which soldiers on D Day might have had some privileges when they got home. I’m sure for any that made it back it was just a privilege to be alive, white, black, Jew, gentile. On that day the bullets were indiscriminate.
God Bless America and all who’ve died in her honor.

To think about and understand the capacity for humans to walk into certain death for a noble cause has always startled me. Just as you mentioned, look at Normandy or the the killing fields of WWI, the Civil War, thousands of years of European wars.
Humans seem to be designed to be willing to die in battle. It’s interesting from a psychological perspective.

My Father was one of the group who predicted the weather that supported that landing. His reward: a medal and assignment to the Pacific theater.
