re: It hit me yesterday that it’s December and we’re still like this. Is there an end?

After 9/11, we were told that all the extra security measures in the airport were only temporary...
Almost 20 years later, I still can’t have a water bottle, have to take my shoes off, can only have one bag, and must allow them to X-ray my entire body before I can fly.

I don’t remember ever being told they were temporary. Also you didn’t have to take your shoes off till that guy tried to blow up his shoes a few years later and you can have two bags if you want not sure where you got that from.

The holidays are hard for a lot of people, now with not being able to see loved ones & being able to provide a normal Christmas for kids due to loss of income I worry that more people will take their own lives, especially if they continue to push telemedicine visits & make it so difficult to get help.
If it saves just one life though...

If government tries to force us to be like this for much longer, more and more people are going to ignore it all and go about their daily lives. That's when government will overstep its boundaries even more and THAT, my friend, is when the new revolution will begin. People aren't going to just accept this long-term .
Been hearing this since May. We’re 10 months into this and no one has done shite.
It will never end.

Some people will just have to die to make sure 75 year old meemaw with diabetes, COPD, and who is morbidly obese lives for another year or two.

Difference is, I’m okay with these measures. I prefer them to be in place.

lolwut? You most certainly are not allowed to have a filled water bottle through security, you have to take your shoes off, and you have to have a full body xray.
The only part that's not really true is the bag part, which is more about space in the overhead bins than security.

Once we kept going before the end of the summer, it was obvious they were not going to release many restrictions until after flu season.
The democrats started using it as political fodder in their fight against Trump and then blamed him for the economy being down. Which meant they needed to keep it going until election.
Once the election was over, we were on the verge of flu season; so they are able to use that fear to keep it going into the beginning of '21.

It ends when:
1. Enough people are absolutely sick of this shite to stop caring...at all; and...
2. There is no longer great virtue in "fear". The media and politicians are LOVING this because they can control the masses all under the guise of "public health." It quite literally has allowed mayors/governors to bypass the legislative process at the foundation of our government to issue edicts based SOLELY on their subjective whims (what is safe? how do you quantify "success" of these precautions?). But they can't do it alone. They need enough of the populace to diligently push this "protective" bullshite. And they get it because those who are the "most concerned" aren't REALLY concerned for YOUR health. They are fearful because that makes them a better person than you. It is a desire for elitism couched in "concern"

Haven't flown in almost 2 years, but isn't this only true if you don't have Global Entry or one of the other TSA plans?
And, there are some airports that do not require anyone to take their shoes off because they upgraded their entire security areas.

I flew twice this weekend and never took my shoes off.
They X-ray my bag, but I just walked through a metal detector.
You can’t have any liquids over 3oz while going through security. That is different than “can’t have a water bottle when you fly”. I board every flight with a bottle of water.

That is a very small amount of people compared to who all is flying, even now. And you have to pay for the privilege after passing a background check first.

Also a very small minority if this actually exists. I've yet to fly to a location where the general security population did not have to remove their shoes. Fly in/out of major hubs like IAD, IAH, ATL, SEA, etc. and you most certainly have to take your shoes off.

What you are experiencing is exactly what some want everyone to experience: acceptance of "The New Normal."
Fight on, brother. Do NOT accept this as normal.
We must continue to let our representatives at local, state, and federal levels that we fully intend to return to old normal and we'll replace them if they don't work to get us there.
Acceptance of this crap is exactly how authoritarianism is implemented systemically. It is how a handful of self righteous, self appointed saviors will get the ability to decide how you should live, eat, work, raise your children, think, etc.
A war for the mind and soul is going on right now. Don't give in.
Our Founders gave us the tools to win this. Let's use them.
