It feels like my 70s/80s Childhood out there

For years I have exercised daily and see the same basic dozen people outside. Suddenly, it’s a sea of shiny, happy people. People are outside waving and talking to each other ( 6 feet please). Kids climbing trees, and running. Whole families walking the dog and going for long strolls. People having picnics in the park . People actually riding bikes. The upside of this ( costing me thousands by the way ) is UNDENIABLE. I can’t believe I just watched a kid climb a tree. Put me in the camp of people that see that as a short term pain in the arse, but a potential long term societal reset that we really needed.

Tons of people of all ages were out and about today. Haven't seen this many people jogging, bike riding, or walking their dogs in a long time.

Yep.
Our normal bike path has been packed everyday the past 2 weeks.
It’s nice to see it. And everyone is super courteous and friendly too. Like everyone makes a point to wave and say “Hi!”

People are actually spending time together as a family. I guess that’s one positive of this whole messed up situation.

We’ve allowed work, school, and activities to take too much of our time and attention. We are exhausted from racing from one thing to the next with little time to just let things breathe. We are always “behind,” always have something on our to do list, always have something to prepare for. It shouldn’t be like that. Kids should not have more than an hour of homework a night. Adults shouldn’t have to put in hours outside 9-5.

So true. Add that both parents working is a necessity not an option nowadays it turns everyday into a rat race.

No doubt about it. Definitely sucks for business right now, but I'm basically reliving my childhood every evening. May play smear the queer here in a bit with the neighbors.

It’s the after school activities being cancelled. No baseball practice, no dance class, no tennis lessons, etc. on normal days we’re running around to all of these things. It’s nice to be able to chill at home with the family for a change.

I have noticed more people outside as well. Maybe we can have that stick around instead of the BS we were doing before.

Its been nice. We have a neighborhood pond that I take my kids fishing in on the weekends and its right beside a bike path. The last few weekends there have been several other kids fishing along with us and the bike path has been packed with bike riders, joggers and people walking their dogs. Its been a nice change for sure.

Excellence in the classroom and in the workforce requires hard work and dedication, and sometimes that means going above and beyond. Sometimes life is tough, not all classes are easy, and work is stressful, but getting through it makes you stronger and more fulfilled.

That's pretty much his point. People are willing to engage in an arms race for excellence in class and work that makes them lose track of their personal life.
