Same in my neighborhood. Wife and I stay outside a lot and like you see the same few people like us now there are people everywhere that we have never seen. Kids playing outside like we did makes it even better.

And when your “ excellent “ cancer comes for you I am sure you will have an “ excellent “ funeral. Look, I have no problem with anybody who is driven to achieve. That’s a worthy goal. But, the goal of life is not “ excellence “ , it’s not even happiness -the goal in life is to LIVE a life of meaning. A meaningful life, not an “ excellent “ life. That’s an illusion created by your ego. When you are older , and see a dozen or so “ excellent “ high flyers crash and burn , you will understand. It’s about Meaning.

The “vision” of UBI is it frees people to do what they want. Their basic needs are met so they can focus their time and attention to what they want to do in life. For most, it would still involve “work”

Ubi has failed almost everytime itsbeen tried. It will be a slow progression until it's enough to live upon.
Most realize it's coming, it's been discussed and even tried for decades. But it ain't gong to sustain anyone for a while.

Except inflation would still happen because many people would seek additional income. 2k per month or whatever the UBI was would be the new equivalent of extreme poverty. Most of us wouldn't be deciding whether or not to go fishing on a Wednesday morning.

We played a game of kickball a couple days ago. Had about 14 of us total. It was awesome. An electrical box was first bas. Mailbox was second and a tree was third.

Not sure UBI would ever fly in a world where people are still consumed by Marxism. It quickly would become not universal, but means tested. The fallacy of equality of outcome is still too important to many.

Perhaps.
UBI probably only works when huge swaths of the economy are automated and cost of goods is insanely low.
It's definitely coming. Just don't know if it's in 20 years or 200 years.
