I’ve noticed it, too. I guess society needed a good kick in the arse to reset itself somewhat. It won’t last once things get back to normal, but it’s nice to experience it for a little while.

It's definitely coming. Just don't know if it's in 20 years or 200 years.
I don't think either of our great grandchildren will have a robot plumber show up at their house.
I agree though, it would only be realistic if almost nobody worked and we'd all be living a lower middle class lifestyle.
And what do you do with people that own tons of assets like land?

Liquidate the land and share the proceeds evenly with everyone

So we can all be poor together. Sounds like utopia

Yep, it does feel like we stepped back in time. Suddenly families have time to be families and to spend time together.
Our grandkids and family are coming over to our camp to go fishing and boating. They are going stir crazy being cooped up so being here where they can run free is a godsend.
We have enough room so the 6 ft rule isn't a problem.

Well, that escalated quickly.

Same for me only I was riding an exercise bike, walking the treadmill, and the elliptical at my church. Now I'm doing a 2.2 mile stroll through my neighborhood. Have met older people like myself, who are avoiding everyone, but friendly and sometimes chatty when I'm in the street in front of their house or meeting them on the road. There are kids playing in the yards. Lots of elementary to high school aged kids shooting hoops in their drives. A couple of dogs that bark. One Saturday a family had a serious game of Cornhole going. Hope we all get to have a block party in the future!
It's very hilly and beautiful. I've really enjoyed it.

quote:My cousin used to own a bike store where he did repairs. Business was slow last year, so he closed it after Christmas. He went to work for a place that sells four wheelers, motorcycles and bikes. They aren't really open, but are doing repairs. and meeting people to sell bikes. He sold two bikes yesterday. Since business is slow now, he's working semi-regular hours there and putting bikes together at Academy at night.
Our normal bike path has been packed everyday the past 2 weeks.

It’s the after school activities being cancelled. No baseball practice, no dance class, no tennis lessons, etc. on normal days we’re running around to all of these things. It’s nice to be able to chill at home with the family for a change.
Actually... this is a major factor. I’m shuffling my kids to different bullshite so much that we’ve compartmentalized our family time. I didn’t even think about this till you posted it but your 1000% correct.
