There's a difference between "allies" and allies. Just because we're friendly with a country's government doesn't mean the people like us or hold American values.

It’s not uncommon for a border fence to get blown up during war

None with the kind of relations that have been built up with Israel. Jordan has always been a bit tenuous until recently where things have smoothed. The Saudis are the only other country that the US might have as strong relations with as Israel, but even those have soured recently with China trying to cause chaos. But the Saudis will have to sit this one out "officially" so they don't rile up their citizens.

I would not say it is a world war yet. Israel has been through this multiple times. Just have to see how this plays out.

We don't know because he didn't link it. I've seen nothing suggesting such.

How do you tell them apart?

I would prefer the US just sell Israel whatever they need.

Confused why the US cares so much about Israel at all, considering this conflict has been going on for 75 years where both sides have been brutally slaughtering the other. It boils down to $$ and Israel has it where the other side doesnt.

The events of the past hour are being backpedaled a bit now. It isn't quite what it seemed initially.

The paragliders were drones, the terrorist alert in the border town near Lebanon has been lifted.

It now seems like a drone swarm from Lebanon accompanied by a longer range Hamas missile attack from Gaza.

It’s easy. The Hamas terrorists have an ID saying so…..

Think about this though, let’s say the terrorists actually did carry an ID saying “I support Terrorism”. Let’s be silly and say that existed. Half of our country would say jts wrong and racist to ask for ID to check and see who the terrorists are

Cybersecurity. They are 15 years ahead of the US in this regard.

From OSINT defender on twitter/X

"Lots of Misinformation going around right now, from the claims that the U.S. had Evacuated its Embassy in Lebanon to the apparent “Announcement” by Hezbollah that they had Opened a Northern Front against Israel; to be clear all of these are so far False."

I would not be surprised if we remained there until we got either overrun by Hezbollah or it gets hit by an errant shot by Israel.

They weren’t in any hurry to close down the embassy in Kabul but they sure as frick closed down the AFB overnight there.

Modern day warfare…

Fog of war is always real but the Information Age makes it much easier to spread things than in the telephone / telegraph days

I think that his substantive stuff is still up, and I hope he continues posting. The trivial back and forth stuff between him and other posters have been wiped, thankfully, because they serve no purpose in this thread.

My buddy in Israel yesterday compared most of the rockets they fire into their area as shooting bottle rockets into your yard. You just aim and shoot. Theres no intelligence involved to get them to a specific target like we can.

Dunno if that is good or bad though

They had two issues:

1. for non-guided rocket or tube artillery you need to have a forward observer to note splashdown and walk the fire in

2. even if they had FOs in visual range or using drones the rockets they used in the initial attack were fired from very crude MLRS systems and watching the initial flights they took very different paths from the same launchers meaning the rockets themselves were of very poor quality which results in very random splashdown. They are however somewhat effective if aimed at high population density areas if not for actual damage them the terror aspect.

There is, but this seems to have been legit concerns with legit warnings going out. More of a fog of war deal than malicious misinformation, at least with the Lebanon issue.
