Yes...but my wife has a Masters Degree in Food Science. So that doesn't hurt.

Not even close. Mother from south LA, wife's mother from W Texas, she can't cook shite.

I'm the cook and while my mom was good at the basics, she couldn't make a gumbo to save her life.... No patience and 4 kids I guess. My mawmaw from lake chuck was the best cook. My mawmaw from Opelousas was a pretty good basic cook too. I think I have surpassed all of them just because there is so much more info out there these days such as the TD Food Board.

My wife is limited in her range of things she can really cook. She does those really well. Except cornbread. My mother has tried to teach her but it just isn't the same.

My mom is a ridiculously good cook. So, no my wife isn’t better, but she’s only been cooking for a couple of years.. and she already has probably 5 or so dishes that are truly top notch. I’d say she’s well on her way. My mom is just tough to beat. Wife’s cooking > MIL’s though.

My mom is from West Virginia and that type of food is meh. I mostly remember lima beans and liver, with a lot of chicken and dumplings. But she was better than my grandmother, everything she cooked tasted like stale cigarettes.
My wife loves putting eggplant, squash and every color of bell pepper in everything. So that's gross.
About every other week, I get fed up and make dinner myself and my kids act like it's christmas.

Nope, and my mom is not a better cook than my wife, either.
Neither one can cook. Growing up in the seventies, I remember my mom (a working mom) fixing crap for dinner like Shake-n-Bake chicken or pork chops, Stouffer stuffing, rice-a-roni and canned veggies. I can't tell you the last time I have eaten ANYTHING she has cooked in the many years since I moved out over 30 years ago.
Wife is a doctor and when she tried to cook, treated it like a chemist doing a science experiment-- exactly this much this or that, cooked exactly this long. And she didn't understand many cooking terms such as saute', blanche, zest, roux, etc. I think the last time I ate something she cooked for me was around 1990.
I am the cook in the family, on everything from the oven to the stovetop to the grill and crawfish pot (and campfire), including everything from the appetizers to desserts.

Not no, but hell no. My mom was old school, learned everything from her mom. The only difference between mom and grandmom is mom put pepper in her cooking.

My mom was and still is (at 82) a fantastic cook. My wife is even better.

I don't know if she's better, but my tastes and tastebuds have evolved to enjoy her cooking more now. I love my wife's cooking (Italians sure take pride in cooking). I used to love my ma's cooking, but now I much prefer my wife's.
