This is the OT and we cheerfully put $100 bills into blenders for fun. Why do you care?

Actually yes. My Ninja blender has lasted years, while the cheap blenders used to last a year tops. And they were more difficult to clean

I make a post work out smoothie daily with frozen fruit, chia seeds, etc. The wal mart blender vs the vitamix is a decent difference but I wouldn't buy a vitamix for use every blue moon.

The vitamix blends much smoother smoothies is about the only difference I have noticed. We have made soup and maragaritas with it also.

You pay more for a higher speed, higher torque motor. That;s why Vitamix is so good. It has an old Dishwasher motor design (new dishwahsers use small DC motor now) and more torque then is needed. A RoboCoupe (made in Jackson Mississippi), is the GOAT processor, it's motor is twice that of a Vitamix which is the GOAT blender.
Cheaper units will have a smaller motor, and less power. It will work fine, but too many frozen drinks and it will burn out.

A $400 Blender will last decades, BUT you likely won't go wrong with a $100 ninja, even if you have to get one every ten years.
Anything cheaper won't last all that long with continous use.

Another HUGE thing I left off is the design of the motor to pitcher assembly. Cheaper ones have simple plastic parts, more expensive have strong stainless steel parts.

I have a Blendtec, no comparison with lesser blenders and that includes the better Waring ones. That blender, All-clad cookware, high-grade cuttlery, somethings you just don't skimp out on if you like to cook.

I used to burn cheap blenders ($75 and under) up on the reg. Got a Vitamix because I use it every day. Glad I did.

That $15 machine isn't gonna last you very long. Make sure you come back to report after you or someone who is also consuming whatever is being blended up ends up in the ER after swallowing a piece of those cheap arse blades when it breaks off.

I see other ones that run up past a c-note. How much more quality can a blender provide?

I can put cold vegetables in my Vitamix and in about 5 minutes it his hot soup. Not talking about a little warm...I'm talking steaming hot soup. It is pretty freakin awesome...and the Vitamix is about 20 years old, too.

Can you do that with a $15 blender?

You know the answer to this already, right? You get what you pay for.

Buy a ninja they are great and last. Just heard my wife turn ours on as I type this.

Loved my ninja....until I got a vitamix. My ninja blender went on the curb the day after I got the vitamix.

I too have a VitaMix for post work out smoothies. Love it. I mean the $20 blenders are adequate for most uses though. They just are built to throw away after a year of use or so. Same as other cheap kitchen appliances.
