You just can’t beat someone asking you what you they can help you find as soon as you walk in. Plus there’s always a pot of coffee on.
You are right. Nothing beats going somewhere and most of the people there know you. My local hardware store does the same thing with coffee.
I am not a big coffee drinker, but for years every Thursday morning this older retired guy would go in and cook breakfast. Every once in awhile, I would stop by just to grab a biscuit. During hunting season he would have deer sausage sometimes. That was always welcomed.

Carrying Cash... I may use my credit card for most everything but I do like to keep some cash on hand in case I need it.
Most folks don't do that anymore

Still pay about 5 monthly bills with checks. Still go to the bank to deposit checks. Still get an actual newspaper.
I'm well under 50.

I try to never borrow things, but if I borrow something it always goes back in better shape than I picked it up.
Yeah, I don't like borrowing anything just because I don't want to mess it up, but if there is a rare occasion when I do I get it back to them as soon as I don't need it anymore.. Mainly because I don't want to be the type who never returns things.
That's just common courtesy (well you would think it is, but there are those who never returns things).

assessments. Just about every behavior analyst I know uses a computerized version of whatever assessment they need...I still like to print out and fill out protocols by hand

Speaking of this. Does anyone rather write down notes than use phone or laptop to type them in?
That's another thing. Some things I prefer to write.

You sound pretty defensive bud.

Even if someone informs me about the event, I don't feel the need to go. Where as, if I get an invite in the mail or that person calls me specifically to invite me, I will go if I do not have anything already planned.
Bet you don’t have that problem too often

That's kind of my point. They assume that I will be told about it (which I am by the person they assume will tell me), but they just tell me "__________ is having _________'s birthday party on ____________". While I know that is them inviting me, but I am saying is, don't assume I will go if that is how I am invited.
Doesn't seem "old school" to me.

Reading books. I don't like to read anything on kindle-type things. I want an good, old-fashioned book.
Baseball. To hell with the DH. To hell with inter-league play. To hell with wild card spots. To hell with three divisions. I can go on and on.

I do not allow my grown children to look at their cell phone when we go out to eat with me (because I am paying) and when we have a family dinner (because I am paying and it is at my house).
Being early to an appointment
Returning things nicer than when I borrowed them.
Holding the door open for ladies.
“Yes Maam” and “Yes Sir” to people older than me.
Never use a debit card for less than $20. Bugs the hell out of me to see a young person use a debit card to purchase an $0.87 Polar Pop at Circle K.
I try not to buy online for things that can be found local.
I try to support local merchants as well. If the local hardware store has it then I choose them over Lowes/Home Depot.

don't use GPS. Mainly because I get tired of it turning down the music to give directions.
You don't like hearing....
Turn right in 500'
Turn right in 400'
Turn right in 250'?
Me neither. Go to settings in that app and mute it.

Jiu jitsu. I dont do that fancy worm guard/rubber guard stuff. I am not flexible or coordinated enough to pull it off, and I find simpler techniques more effective in reaching the same result.
