Gas stations are the ultimate barometer to determine the lowest common denominator of any neighborhood.
I can learn everything I need to know about crime and the types of calls for service the area will experience by watching a gas station for 10 minutes.

This would be a good idea regardless. And do it at different times of day and night. Also do weekdays and weekends.
No matter where you move, there is going to be some kind of shite you did not expect. And the realtor will try to make sure you visit at the optimal time.

Just use the Street View in Realtor.com. That usually tells the true tale.

Crime radar is a good app for 911 info. You can set the location you want and look at the map and click on incidents.
