Is there any advantage to a Composite youth baseball bat?

As opposed to alloy? I’m looking to get new bats for my kids. A Marucci Cat 9 composite bat is $20 cheaper than the alloy. So price doesn’t matter. I need to make sure I can keep their RBI’s up so that hopefully scholarships are in their future. Any baseball guys know the answer to this? Thanks in advance.

Get the alloy. It's hot right out the wrapper.

Make sure to work on his foot speed. I knew a guy that played D-1 all over the field and could hit like a son of a bugger, but too slow on the base paths.

I don’t know shite about bats so that’s all I can offer.

Well, youth sports wasn't a money maker when you were a kid so things have changed.

OP, the main difference is that composite bats will have a longer barrel aka..bigger sweet spot. There are others (like alloy will be more durable) but if you're dropping $275 per bat for multiple kids it doesnt sound like durability is a priority

Let the kids pick bat's that they like, it won't make much difference at all at that age. It's all a huge waste of money. If you just insist on blowing your money go with Demarini, best bat's in baseball.

Composite.

Alloy is hot but will be dented in less than 50 swings.

Composite gets hotter as it ages until it also breaks and you're in the same boat again. You'll get more life out of composite.

Totally false. They hold up every bit as well through high school seasons.

Also, the OP is shopping for kids 8 and 11. They won't get the composite broken in before they outgrow it. May as well get an alloy bat that has pop.

I felt like I had won the lottery the season my coach had 5 bats to choose from instead the customary 2.

All of the baseball players at my son’s school carry around two bats. Not sure why at all…one glove, two bats.

You can break in one with in one weekend. All the Cat 9 needs is like 300 swings. A couple of cage sessions and it's good to go.

One is for cage and tee work. The other is their game bat
