Is there a deeper reason that Thanksgiving has steadily been pushed to the background?

The holiday is largely based in Christian religious belief in the US.

And does being thankful for blessings even fit with a pop / media culture that constantly pushes the idea that everyone is a victim in our rotten society.

‘Black Friday’ is what many want you to think about, because your job is to consume and spend, not reflect on what you already own and have achieved.

TD needs Thanksgiving decorations.

the culture (psychosis?) of nostalgia has just taken over to where Christmas is promoted before Halloween now

it's not some SJW/woke conspiracy. it's just this new culture that has developed. Christmas is the biggest icon of nostalgia in the West (#2 is Disney), so it's not shocking everything else has been pushed aside

Suggesting that Chicken decorate to celebrate turkeys is a very fowl move on your part

What are you talking about?

Scruffy has never noticed Thanksgiving being pushed into the background.

Thanksgiving doesn’t generate the money Halloween and Christmas do so of course it’s pushed into the background. People staying home cooking homemade meals! For shame they aren’t paying someone for that service or giving gifts to one another, or decorating their home!

This is serious tinfoil hat stuff, but you’ve got a point. Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays, but it really does feel more and more forgotten.

Truth. People feel entitled to the things that we once gave thanks for

Scruffy could see how it is viewed as “giving thanks to God”, which would make sense since, at the time, everyone was religious.

But Scruffy always saw it in the historical context, not religious.

It hasn't for me and my family. This is the one holiday where our whole extended family gets together, including people who travel.

As far as media/corporate world, I think people just haven't quite been able to figure out how to monetize Thanksgiving yet (probably because the holiday is literally focused on being thankful for what you already have). The $$$ is what drives media/corporate focus.
