Is there a buying process that is more soul crushing than buying a vehicle at a dealership

I know buying a house can get that way, but at least that process is spread out over a few weeks until closing date is set.

Bought the wife a new car Saturday, and the whole process makes you never want to do it again. We spent 6 hours in the dealership, but to be fair we did test drive 5 different cars before settling on one so some of that is on us. We had even pre-qualified for financing through them the night before thinking that would speed up the process. Nope.

Anyway, we had to buy one quick because her car was having issues we didn't want to throw money at, which is why we used the dealership's financing. Going sometime this week or next week to re-finance it with the local credit union.

You spending 6 hours in there is your own fault. You do realize they were all on the other side of the glass wall laughing at you the whole time.

Buying a house in a hot market is significantly worse.

Had you considered leasing? I’ve never done it, but a buddy of mine is always trying to convince me “ If it rolls, floats, or flies, lease it” because of depreciation.

I've never bought a car at the dealership, but I've heard its a pain. I dont understand why though. Can't you just agree to the price they want and leave?

Facts. Be educated on what you're buying and know what your trade is actually worth. Get prequalified through your bank of choice so you can use that as leverage with the dealer's financing people.

Don't be afraid to walk if they hit you with bullshite. You'll know it's bullshite because you did your homework.

I bought my truck brand new at a dealership. I was there for 30 minutes.

Few emails the day before, in and out the door.

they will drag the frick out of the whole process' especially if you end up with a sales person with no authority. Took my wife (no pics) & I almost 3 hours from walking in the door to leaving. We already knew which one we wanted because we did our homework with all of the dealerships, took a 10 minute test drive, negotiated the final price, then signed the finance papers & listen to the warranty up-sale push.

Not for me, car buying is pretty easy. I have driven only Ford Trucks and by the time I go in I know what I want and what I am paying. I make an offer and get a yes or no and if its a no move on to the next dealership.

Paying cash makes the rest of the process simple.

I actually enjoy it. I don’t play any of their games. I’m in charge, not them.

Buying a new cell phone has become almost as annoying as closing on a mortgage. Unbelievable how much time it takes.
