North Louisiana is more pretentious than South, the Baptists will go to church then raise their nose at those that don't.
But if you have money it doesn't matter how big of a piece of shite you are, they all worship you like a king.
Prime example is their hero Karl Malone - Four or more kids out of wedlock that he never recognized until he "HAD TO" and one with a 12 yr old.
But they all slobber all over his balls like he's some type of God and put a statue of him up.

Monroe and Shreveport ar about as different as Monroe and Lafayette. While the Cajun culture (accent, Catholicism, beer at kids birthday parties) is not as prevalent in N LA, people confuse CENLA and Shreveport with NE La.
NELA is pretty laid back, beer / liquor sold on Sundays in mostly all places, and just about every chain that’s in Baton Rouge is also in Monroe. They are mostly LSU fans and all are Saints fans (unlike Shreveport). Monroe has 2 Mardi Gras parades now and they are big deals. Yes you have to drive through CENLA to get there going up 165 or 65 but once you leave Olla on 165 or Vidalia on 65, go North and you’ll see it’s nothing at all like NW La or CENLA.

The biggest difference is obviously culture, north Louisiana has a different heritage and religion than south Louisiana. Though there are some areas of “south” Louisiana that are similar to north Louisiana, mainly the Florida Parishes.

Fried seafood is still very prevalent. Gumbo and crawfish are very common

This doesn’t exist in CENLA
You may want to visit Avoyelles bruh.

Go to north LA if you like to hunt.
Go to south LA if you like to fish.

All I know is, growing up in South LA and then moving to NELA, that was a very nice change of pace for me. NELA just feels more relaxed and peaceful and I love it. People are nicer in NELA too. More friendly it seemed. Too many assholes down here in South LA, especially BR/NOLA areas.

Only difference is North LA drinks South LA under the table all day every day.
This is laughable and doesn't deserve consideration or rebuttal.

Oh and fighting. coonasses are no match for us in the art of knuckle checking.
Given the average north louisiana baw is 5inches taller and 40lbs heavier...possibly. The difference is, in south louisiana, that little five foot five 120lb guy might think nothing about brawling with a guy a foot taller and 100lbs heavier.

South LA is losing their grip on LA superiority.
North Louisiana offers nothing unique or interesting. It’s an entirely unremarkable region with nothing going for it.

Almost like the beautiful beaches of downtown Cameron and rice fields of south west la.
Gorgeous.
Gorgeous.

This doesn’t exist in CENLA much less In Funroe and Shreveport (Texas).
How do people come on here and make statements like this?
Most restaurants that serve "cajun" food still serve gumbo north of I-10.
Just like restaurants south of I-10, it isn't as good as what your grandma makes at home. But it is still there nonetheless.
Fried seafood can be found at damn near every restaurant unless you are eating Mexican.
A lot of gas stations have boudin... admittedly not always homemade like you find at Best Stop, but it is still there.
So to say it "doesn't exist" in CENLA, Monroe, and Shreveport is just false.

Most people I know in that area think Karl is a raging a-hole.

North is WAY more Baptist
Grew up on the outskirts of Shreveport. Grandparents were Baptist and Methodist. I believe I knew 1 Catholic person in high school. Fast forward to LSU...I heard friends talking about going to mass and I had no idea what they were talking about.

Born, grew up, & went to college in North Louisiana & lived in New Orleans for over a decade. It’s like two different worlds. North Louisiana is majority Protestant & South Louisiana is majority Catholic. Let’s start there. Contrary to popular belief you can get good food in North Louisiana. I can go on for hours about the differences. I love North Louisiana but if I ever move back to Louisiana I will move back to New Orleans.
Louisiana is two separate states. I have spent lots of time in Monroe and Shreveport my entire life due to family. Born and raised in BR. North Louisiana is really South Arkansas. And I'm not knocking it, just agreeing that there's a difference.
