Had 3 come out. Stood there and stared. Knew something wasn’t right. One was right behind me. Had my bow drawn back and I was standing there for about 3 minutes waiting for them to move for a good shot and my arm was screaming and about to give out.

One behind me knew I was a person blew and ran away causing the others to run away . As I look behind me, I see antlers moving through the woods.

I’m debating on packing my shite and leaving after that. I’m pretty ticked off

I have an eberlestock x2 but I did skin a deer I killed in MO on the ground. Was not fun and was strenuous on my back.

My plan is to field dress it and drag it out via sled.

I found out that there’s a skinning rack at campground and I wanted to use it when I kill one.

Duck hunter sled

Not a duck hunter, but one thing I need for deer hunting is a transport sled for hunting public.

A guy I met showed me his sled for transporting deer and gear in and out of the woods. He used the same type of sled that duck hunters use for holding decoys and gear.

Do yall have any recommendations?

Thanks OB

Same conditions as yesterday.

People underestimate the ridiculous lengths some "content creators" will go to in order to generate clicks. People will also go to extreme lengths to make a canned hunt appear legitimate for credibilitys sake. When a story checks a lot of the boxes of content creator doing content creator things, people are going to get suspect of it.

This.

If this guy killed this buck on a 50 acre tract of land in Walthall county then that guy needs to buy a lottery ticket.

If this guy killed this deer on a 5000 acre private tract then something might be off and/or these people just poured money into it to stay there and slip up

But who knows maybe they had neighbors that were very cooperative and performing a team effort to try and hunt him and put little pressure on the area.

Columbia has some quality deer killed every year.

Not giants like what’s killed in Natchez or delta but definitely some quality deer
This reminds me a lot of Tyler Jordan’s big buck he killed at HB last year….
I used to pass through this area all the time to get to my old lease. I always told myself it’s only a matter of time before someone gets a giant out there.

Marion county has some nice deer often taken. I know it’s close to that area

Drainage intersection

REALLY hot. Too hot to be doing this

PSE

Good luck to all hunting in this miserable weather
Fair enough. All the deer i have killed in the heat were in a food plot on private land. I guess the circle of life continues even when its 75 F and its not ideal

Deer hunting in the heat

Posted by freshtigerbait on 12/23/25 at 1:25 pm
This topic gets brought up every season it feels like but it’s what motivates some to get out there.

For everyone across the lower 48 it’s been a very warm week so far and going into Xmas it will be warm. Especially in the south. In particularly Louisiana. Week of NYE it will cool off and *gasps* it’ll happen when I go back to work.

This is my experience, but I have had much better luck in the cold than the heat. Particularly upper 70 degree weather. I have seen them in the heat and killed a small amount even, However they have to move at some point to survive despite the heat.

At the same time…I do question life after I go in the heat, sweat my arse off, kill more skeeters than I know what to do with, and not see a single living animal.

I’m trying to convince myself to go Sunday and not give myself the whole “well it’s better than being at work” spiel. And really hate to use PTO on Tuesday when I know there will be better days to go in January.

Has the OB been having luck in this heat? I need some motivation to go on Sunday.

Needed to hear that. I hate hunting in the heat but I would rather hunt in the heat than be at this damn job

Best of luck to you sir

"Can't kill em on the couch" but i feel like a failure and question my decision making when i do make a hunt in the heat and kill nothing but mosquitoes and time and don't see anything
