I like having the 4 seasons where I can be miserable for fairly short periods and enjoy the in betweens.

Yes. The cold is worse. This man has never been to North Dakota in - 60.
I've been in -30. The difference is, it isn't -30 every day for 4+ months like it is 95+ here

Yes, lived in both climates and the weeks without sunshine and dry air are infinitely worse but some people actually enjoy it.

95 is easy. I'm not a fatass. Yes it's hot but I fricking hate being cold. Louisiana doesn't have a happy medium. I'll sweat before I put extra clothes on. frick ice, frick snow, frick wind, frick cold. I'm climatized to Louisiana.

The extremes of both suck. I prefer cold.
I share your personal preference. for recreational reasons, and…others

I've lost my tolerance for the heat. But if I moved back I'm sure it would come back
All I know is after Katrina it was so hot and humid with no power.
After Sandy we had a snow storm and no power, you can always add layers when it's cold, but when it's hot you reach a point where you can't take anymore clothes off.

When it’s cold, I can put on more clothes. When it’s hot, nobody wants to see a pasty white guy in his mid-50s running around in tighty-whites.

I’ll take the heat over the cold everyday

Don't have to have extremes of either. Mid-atlantic has the best weather outside of California.
Posted on 9/16/24 at 6:26 pm to SaintlyTiger88
It can be 40 degrees year round and I won't complain one bit. I can't stand the heat.
Posted on 9/16/24 at 6:27 pm to SaintlyTiger88
I mean they both can kill you.
Posted on 9/16/24 at 6:28 pm to SaintlyTiger88
lived in both... give me Montana over Alabama any day of the week. The dry weather is fantastic.

Those of you who do live where it truly gets cold, what do you say? Is a cold and snowy climate truly worse than the hot climate?
It kicks the absolute shite out of the Deep South, that's for sure. It would probably suck if you didn't like winter activities, though.

We get all four seasons in Kentucky. Summer temps average 80s-90s, Winter temps average 30s-20s. It gets pretty damn humid in the summer here too. Not to the extent it does in Louisiana or Florida, but we get 80-90% humidity. Winter is pretty mild as far as snowfall is concerned. Usually 1-2" here in Lexington when it does happen, which isn't all that frequent. All in all, I feel like we have a pretty well rounded climate and I definitely prefer the summer. Being cold is absolutely miserable.

10 in Montana feels better than 40 in Alabama. That gray, humid windy overcast shite that the South gets feels terrible compared to a bluebird day.

No.

I've always said Winter over Summer, but over time I'm Summer over Winter now.
Winter is cold, wet, gloomy in the south vs mugy, scorching Summer.
Summer you got sunny pretty days and can still enjoy the early mornings and nights.

Most people can survive the heat without AC, it would suck but survivable. The same can’t be said for the cold. The heat in Louisiana want kill me but being stuck in the middle of nowhere in North Dakota during the winter with no way of getting heat and I’m not surviving very long. I’ll take the SE Louisiana climate over brutal winters everyday.

I love the cold
It never gets cold enough for me in New Orleans. Ever.
There is nothing worse than heat and humidity that starts in May and lasts until AT LEAST October EVERY year.
