Women are drinking hundreds of calories a day from Starbucks. Remember the 70s was about when the low fat thing started, so it was bagels for breakfast instead of eggs and bacon with toast.

Replaced with consumption of other drugs.

Correct.

Correct. But not a measure of health, but a measure of medical advancement.

Lifespan expantcy recently raised to 79.0.

Correct. But not immediately correlated to health of a society. Obviously it is a factor to a degree. To what degree, I can't answer. But I could make an educated guess that this is mostly due to medical advancements, particularly in infant mortality.

Are you suggesting that Fat smokers would be healthier than plain fatties?

One could argue the fat smokers would be dead. Therefore society would be healthier by thinning the herd.

Actually went down last year for the first time in decades (obviously due to GLP-1s usage)

Cigs are a stimulant and also suppress the appetite. Many people get fatter when they quit smoking

If there were logical drug laws in this country alcohol would be a CDS scheduled drug, maybe schedule as I cant think of a medical use that cant be taken care of with another drug.

200K Americans die each year from alcohol. Thousands killed on the road, violent confrontations, domestic abuse etc.

I'm not saying it should be but thats just a fact. You can straight up go buy a drug that causes dangerous side effects, you can OD on it, it is addictive etc.

Most people dare natural selection everyday. They don’t use their blinkers when they drive, distracted by everything, ignore weather / construction / sleep, etc. Driving is most dangerous thing most adults do.

Cigarettes did not create this.

During the covid foolishness I maintained that people could do more to improve their overall safety by driving 35 MPH everywhere instead of masking, distancing, taking ‘vaccines’, etc.

After all the anti-smoking legislature occurred major tobacco companies pivoted and acquired many large food companies and i imagine if you were to look at the data and trends that would have way more implication than the change in people smoking less/not at all

I think it's very likely that a large part of the anxiety pandemic is due to people no longer smoking.
When smoking was originally cracked down on by the SG in the late 60s, it kicked off the "mother's little helper" era. By the mid/late 70s, something like 2 in 3 women were on Valium.

I stand by my claim: smoking reduces anxiety. Population wide, that matters probably way more than whatever number of lung cancer deaths happen as a result.
