All the killings/murder is because of global warming and vapor trails left by jet planes.

Funny, on my last two trips I don't recall having to avoid side streets or having a set time to get back for in Denver or NYC

Manhattan is pretty damn safe. You should get out more.

Thank you for your serious response. I wouldn't go down in the French Quarter after 2 a.m. anyway.

Just hang out by Bourbon and St. Ann and you'll be fine.

Oh, so you only are talking about the good areas of NYC? Almost like you avoid bad ones. Did you just instinctively do that?

Can be. Follow some fairly simple rules and you can limit your exposure to calamity. Stay with your group. Do not wander down dark side streets off of bourbon bc you are trying to make a call or cannot hear in a bar. Try not to be walking around the city after 2am. between 2-4am is most dangerous. Mind your business

This exactly - the danger is blown out of proportion if you're not doing things that can get you into trouble. I've never had a problem in NOLA, even as recently as a few months ago. I'd probably try to be off of the streets by 12:00 AM or 1:00 AM though.

That depends on what you want to do in Nola, if you want to be robbed and assaulted, its great.

Honestly, yes, the Quarter has gotten worse. Likely nothing will happen to you but there is still an increased chance from 8-10 years ago in the Quarter.

Tourists generally stay in the French Quarter/CBD in NOLA

Tourists generally stay in Manhattan in New York

I don't recall many NYC threads where New York posters warn visitors to stay off side streets, have their head on a swivel, and get back to their hotel for 2am.

after a certain point, this word is so overused on this site it has lost any intended effect. Can you come up with anything slightly more creative?

I forgot we're not on a message board that is all about South LA and is instead about the NYC area. Stupid me.

As long as you try to actively piss and vomit in the middle of the street you'll be fine. If I were you I'd consider driving my vehicle down the middle of Bourbon St at about midnight.

No seriously, my only real advice....stay away from the statues.

It's so bad. I'm gonna pull over six figures this year from people visiting.

Life sucks here for sure

Ritz Carlton is nice. The neighborhood near it isn't so nice.

Or you can just admit that New Orleans tourist areas are a hell of a lot more sketchy than NYC tourist areas.

I was unaware the only things to see in NYC were in Manhattan. Odd.
