The Cane River, downtown riverfront, presence of Northwestern St, proximity to Kisatchie National Forest, and the piney forested uplands and hardwood bottoms all make Natchitoches a nice setting.

What other villages and hamlets in Louisiana might vie for this honor?

Sure if you literally just stay on that 1/2 mile section of Front Street

Otherwise Natchitoches is just another shitty small town in the South

Bawcomville is definitely very charming in it's own right in the Fall and we always enjoyed a trip into town to see the red lights

Bogalusa has more charm crammed into one city block than all of Natchitoches.

I always think Columbia is really pretty when I drive through over the bridge and look down at the town along the Ouachita River.

Never actually spent any time there besides driving through. Doubt much is happening. Seems like a tiny place.
