Madisonville and the Tchefuncte river. You have the old town, river front,Lake front,Fairview riverside state park .
Mardi Gras boat parade, Wooden Boat festival are a blast. Great food all around town as well.

Of the places in La I've been, I would say Natchitoches, yes.
Outside of the Downtown area, it's just rural Louisiana, though.

have you ever seen Leesville from a Huey at night?
No. I'm not 1000 years old. But from a Blackhawk? Yeah.
The last time I was in Huey I was 20 years old.
(That's a long, long, long, long time ago.

It's cute and all but I would honestly have to go with Jefferson, TX as the most charming LA town.

Columbia has the oldest bar on the Ouachita River.

I am NakaTrash, and I approve this message.
(Although it has some real rough areas and the schools suck—but guess that’s pretty par for the course.)

I have it on pretty good authority (mine) that Covington is the most charming.
Seriously, Natchitoches is very nice. However, if you go from the mouth of Tchefuncta River and Lake Ponchartrain, up Lake Road thru Madisoville, a little further north to downtown Covington (Southern Hotel, restaurants, shops, HJ Smith and Sons) and then round the day out with a stop at the Abita Brewery and UCM Museum / Abita Mystery House:
architecture, natural beauty, delicious food, visual and performing arts and a just enough of a quirky vibe to keep life real.
Yeah, it's the Madisonville / Covington / Abita trifecta FTW. Sorry, Mandeville.

Natchitoches is literally one of the crapiest towns there are. Sure, that little section you posted pictures of is nice, but all they have is a disgusting Walmart and a disgusting movie theater. Most of the people that live there are douches. Make sure to check out the Chilli’s while you’re in town after visiting Walmart.

I find it charming but I don’t think they’re marketing the city the way they should be. It’s not as big as a Savannah or Charleston but I feel more people should vacation there and they should promote people moving there but they don’t.
