Madisonville is nothing but a traffic snarl now and Covington sadly is much of the same. Not to mention all the gaudy shite looking houses that are being put up in the downtown area now.

I work in Alexandria and Natchitoches and Yes it is a charming town. Take the time a drive out of town on Keyser and the cane river. Beautiful drive

Where exactly are these gaudy shite looking houses in downtown Covington? I am genuinely curious as to what you are referring to.

If I had to guess the OP is talking about on Jahnke. There are a few of houses that have been built that take up the entire lot.

Downtown Covington has enough going on you could spend a weekend there and have a great time. One of the best little Towns in Louisiana IMO and like another poster said you could go to Madisonville and Abita Springs. I will even throw in the Mandeville lake front. Just enough to keep you entertained for a laid back weekend.
