Yes. Idaho also
Unfortunately California is leaking all over Idaho now.

I grew up in Prairieville and have lived in Bozeman for 15 years.
It's nice and quiet, relatively speaking. There are a million great hikes/climbs/skiing within 2 hours drive, and the nearest major cities are 1.5-2 hours away(Billings, Helena, Butte). Not much nightlife, unless you're a college kid, but that's not really the culture here either. Most people here have their fun out of town, in the outdoors.
To make a Louisiana comparison, population-wise, Bozeman and the Gallatin Valley as a whole is about the size of Monroe. Not too big, not too small.
Housing market is stoopid right now and has been for about 4 years now. Can't get anything worth buying for less than $450k. Hopefully that will change soon.
Plenty of Democrats here, but no culcha, so to speak. I would guess that the black population is less than 1,000.
It's definitely a sea change from SELA, but it's a lovely place. If you're thinking about it, come spend a week or two or three here before you move.
Also, AMA.

The problem with Montana is that salaries are lower and opportunities are fewer and far between. So your ability to stockpile food and weapons are reduced.
But you are more insulated from the bullshite impacting the more populated areas.

You don't recall the Keystone XL Pipeline protests?

Right on the other side of the mountain range from Jackson is Idaho (Idaho Falls) and housing prices there are super cheap.
places like driggs and victor are just over the mountains and closer than idaho falls. and they're getting pricier.

We went to Big Sky for a summer vacation recently and it was amazing! We flew into Bozeman.

Pretty much all the northern states up there are nice. It's a completely different lifestyle than most people are use to.

Took 84 east out of Portland and crossed over the Bridge of the Gods into Washington State. That was spectacular.

I moved to Montana 35 years ago and it’s a great place to live if you can tolerate the cold winters.

Why don't you move there if it's so great?

actually really like LA so I'm not trying to be a dick but you should have a little more self-awareness before you shite on other states.
Have a lot of self awareness. I've lived all over the country. I'm not a fan of Louisiana either. Still doesn't change the fact that the states listed suck.
