What is the cost of living like up in that area? ND, SD, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming

Like mentioned, it depends on the specific location.

Jackson, WY is expensive AF. Other areas of WY can be cheap. Right on the other side of the mountain range from Jackson is Idaho (Idaho Falls) and housing prices there are super cheap.

I actually really like LA so I'm not trying to be a dick but you should have a little more self-awareness before you shite on other states.

LA gets shite on a lot and most of it is justified. There are plenty of people that live decent lives here too. We can't really even make fun of West Virginia though

People keep saying this but being from BR/Nola I don't understand what they mean. Please explain.

I lived in Billings from 2009 to 2017.
It pales in comparison to BR/NOLA sketchiness. It has a meth problem. A surprisingly large homeless population Downtown. And wannabe white/Native gangbangers. South side and some parts of the Heights are the worst neighborhoods. But again—I wouldn’t stress at all about your kids being there. I’d recommend going up to visit. (My dad and a brother still live there BTW.)

You clearly didn’t drive down 14 on the gorge. Once of the most scenic and beautiful parts of our country

Honestly my experience with it is limited to driving through en rt to MN, word of mouth and reading the newspaper. Haha. Seems to be a disproportionate amount or messed up stuff in the police blotter.

I am very happy to have made the move to Central Oregon. Yeah, Portland is a few hours away, but most of them seem to stay on their side of the Cascade mountain range.

Can you get where you are the same kind of services as a person in Portland???

If so why would you care that it’s two hours away?????

Yeah. Bend is a town of about 100k. I love the fact that these massive mountains separate us from towns like Portland, Eugene, and Salem.

I wouldn't mind living in that area. I'd like to get out of the heat in the South.

Utah is the state that had the scenery that impressed me the most on my move out to Oregon. But there's a lot of amazing scenery in the Western part of the country.

My only complaint about living here is, aside from burgers and pizza, the food. The Mexican and Asian places that I've tried have all been terrible and there's no barbecue joints to be found around here.
