Southern Louisiana is the very definition of the Deep South; both by population makeup and economic history. Cotton and sugar cane plantations, demographics, education of residents; not sure how this debatable.
If people want to say New Orleans is somehow different or special, maybe, but that's just one city in the State.

I can go with that map.
But if you said the Florida parishes, southern Miss, Lower Alabama, southern fa and the pandhand would be more deep south I’d be fine with it.

So you're saying Florida is the King of the Deep South?

The map shown is a great reminder not to believe everything you read on the internet.

Nah, I was being facetious.
Louisiana, by and large, is more Deep South than Florida.
And I do agree about Texas.

Southern Louisiana is its own thing, central and northern Louisiana are definitely Deep South culturally. The panhandle of Florida is also Deep South culturally.
Was going to say the same.
I guess the biggest thing is south Louisiana is Catholic. I didn’t know many Catholics when I lived in Georgia.

The Deep South states have French heritage and are Catholic? Or, does that not matter because we’re white just like the European settlers of the Deep South states?

Texas and Louisiana have their own individual identity like Florida has.
However without adding another color, Louisiana is definitely Deep South and I would put Texas as blue (western State).

I agree. The map is accurate. (at least the deep south portion)

I dont think the rest of the country thinks of "Catholic" when they think of Louisiana.
( despite our parishes)
I bet if you polled states, 75-80% would indeed say Louisiana was the Deep South, probably for the reasons you stated.
Hell, they all think we have alligators in our backyard.

Literally yes, but culturally no. At least not South Louisiana.
And speaking of South Louisiana, where New Orleans is located here is a New Orleans artist's song turned into a blues song.

Louisiana is as Deep South as it gets. Who ever came up with that map is a doofus.

My insult for any southerner above I10 has always been to call them a yankee.
A while back a baw from South LA said anyone north of Hwy 90.
I was damned near devastated.

Why in the world would west virgina be considered even a little bit part of the south?
It’s not that far from the north east
