re: Is it weird that a 50k GMC truck’s big selling point is a tailgate that has a step on it?

That tailgate replacement cost is $3,500.

The Ford is $5000.00.

Interior is the main thing for me. Any truck in that class will do what I need it to do.

The weird part is that like 5 years ago GM ran an entire ad campaign about how you weren't really a man if you wanted a step incorporated into the tailgate.

Ram surpassed Chevy as the #2 selling truck behind ford recently.
Ram isn’t owned by Chrysler.
Silverados and Sierra’s marketing, mainly the sissy arse tailgates, are geared towards grandpas.
If you need a step stool to get in the bed of your truck, or an electronic tailgate that picks itself up, you’re either old, or a lazy fat arse.

I have been enjoying my new Ram ecodiesel, averaging around 24mpg over the 18k miles I’ve put on it with about half coming on the highway where I get 26-27mpg.

If you have a problem with a tailgate option you are not thinking straight or can't afford one.

They are really handy.

I've rented a Ram hemi for a month and a half while my F150 5.0 was in the shop. The Ram gets 19mpg going 85, and the Ford gets 17. Both stock and same exact configurations.

One major difference is the Ford has a 10spd that is about to go in the shop for one more round for being a huge POS

I priced out a 2020 GMC HD 2500 with a Diesel engine on the GMC website and it was just over $78,000.00. That is insane!

Have to factor in UAW strike, and future UAW raises.

I have 2012 Denali...I've had it for almost 6 years...

117k

Just routine maintenance thus far...

I really like it.

Interior is a big deal...

Think about it...its what you see and feel...your driving experience is connected to the interior.

Mixed feelings about the one

That is in line with the other brands, no?

Ford isn’t giving away 250s

I'm so glad mine has the 6 speed. It appears the changes they made to the 5.0 with this last "update" and the 10 speed transmission, they have created a lot of issues for themselves. I wouldn't buy a F150 right now till those items are fixed.

You can get a 2019 custom edition Silverado now for 28k. 6 months ago that truck was 35k+

It pays to be patient with car buying, MSRP is so vastly inflated above dealer cost.

Just went on a 3,000 mile round trip to Colorado. Went 85 most of the way and got 25mpg for the trip.

and yes i'm an idiot. Ram is still owned by Chrysler, just part of their own division of it instead of being part of Dodge.

If someone gives me a GM vehicle it is what it is, but I won't ever again spend my own money on one.
